WOMEN'S AMATEUR ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP

February 12, 2026

Jazy Roberts

Heretaunga, Wellington, New Zealand

Quick Quotes

Q. Jazy Roberts, 4-under 68 here in round one at the Women's Amateur Asia Pacific. Pleased with that round? Give us a summary of how you played today.

JAZY ROBERTS: Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it. I got off to a very good start. Made two birdies on the first two holes and managed to make a few more early on the front nine; then just finished well with some pars.

Yeah, happy with 4-under.

Q. You had a couple bogeys I guess late in the front nine but turned it around. What was the key to bouncing back and getting a nice run of birdies going?

JAZY ROBERTS: I think just trying to be aggressive. I think where the pins were today I could definitely attack them a lot more than what I think you will the next few days.

I wouldn't say I was hitting it the best today. Struggled a fair bit, but managed to roll in a few putts to make some birdies.

Q. If you weren't hitting it your best, what was the key to keeping the round going and not losing too much momentum? Was it making nice up and downs or...

JAZY ROBERTS: Just trying to hit it to the middle of the green, and if I didn't hit it great, which was happening a little bit, hopefully still end up on the green and then hope for two putts and then be happy with pars, yeah.

Q. Was there a good birdie in that run of four out of five holes, a bonus birdie in that stretch that helped boost your round up?

JAZY ROBERTS: I think probably the 4th, which was the par-5. I think in the practice rounds I did hit a few balls into the water, so I wasn't feeling too great when I got to that hole.

Managed to avoid the water with my second shot. I went out a fair way left to avoid it, and then hit a somewhat decent chip out of the rough but managed to hole a fairly good putt for birdie.

Q. Third time here in this championship. What's it like to come back and I guess to get off to a good start and feel comfortable in this environment?

JAZY ROBERTS: I mean, I played pretty well last year. I was very happy with how I went. I think I know that you can play good on the first day but you still got three more days to go.

So I think you just have to keep being aggressive and kind of take your opportunities when you have them.
