Quick Quotes
Q. Arianna, well firstly, welcome back to the Women's Amateur Asia Pacific. How good is it to be back and playing in this tournament?
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, it feels really good. This is my fifth time playing in WAAP, and each time it's just really exciting to see everyone again and just play on the biggest stage in Women's Amateur in Asia.
So, yeah, just try to enjoy this week and it's really good experience.
Q. Yeah, well, looked like you certainly enjoyed it out there. Opening round of 7-under. How did you enjoy that?
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, today the weather was really nice, not too windy, so it was pretty scorable. I didn't expect to get to many like score-wise expectation. I just tried to hit shot by shot as best as I can and stick to my game plan.
So today I was very consistent and gave myself a lot of chances. So, yeah, I will try to do my best next few days.
Q. Well just looking at the scorecard, seven birdies and no bogeys at all. Was it as easy as it looked?
ARIANNA LAU: The course is quite difficult, especially around the greens because there is a lot of undulation. But, yeah, it's a really nice course. Yeah, I really like it.
Q. What shots or clubs were working well for you today?
ARIANNA LAU: I think my putter worked very well and I hit the ball pretty straight today, so, yeah.
Q. And obviously in your group you and Yunseo as well. Help you the fact that you were both playing well?
ARIANNA LAU: I play with --
Q. Yunseo?
ARIANNA LAU: No.
Q. Who did you play with?
ARIANNA LAU: Zhou Shiyuan from China and Ella from Australia.
Q. How did you enjoy their company?
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, I know Alison, so Zhou Shiyuan before, so it's nice to play with her. And Ella is really nice, too. Really good.
Q. What about the crowd out here and the people around? Was it fun to play?
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, yeah. There is a lot of people supporting us, so really glad.
Q. And just lastly from me, obviously mentioned you played in this tournament quite a lot. How do you think those experiences helped you when you arrived at this tournament knowing you played in it before and knew what to expect?
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, I definitely seen myself grow a lot in this tournament. Every year coming back I try to be better, like more mature and, yeah, just better than the year before.
So the experience has definitely helped, so I'll just try to do better this year and enjoy the experience.
Q. And just lastly, what did you make of the course and the condition and everything?
ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, the course is kept really well. The greens are rolling really nice and the layout is very beautiful. New Zealand, yeah, everything is great.
