AFRICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

February 7, 2026

Charl Barnard

Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

Quick Quotes

Q. Charl, runner-up in the Africa Amateur. How are you feeling?

CHARL BARNARD: Yeah, feel really good. Went into today with nothing to lose, so kind of went at the pins and just tried to hit the fairways. Yeah, got a good score outs of this.

Q. Low score for you today. Talk me through how you feel about that.

CHARL BARNARD: Yeah, I mean, obviously you want to win this tournament, but I think with Jack playing how he did, I'm still very happy how I played today.

Yeah, just happy.

Q. How much confidence does your performance today give you going into other competitions?

CHARL BARNARD: Yeah, definitely. I think that's the main thing I'll take out of today, just knowing I can shoot those low numbers going into the next tournaments.

Yeah, very pleased to have the confidence going into the next few.

Q. Jack, obviously a great winner today. Do you have any words for him?

CHARL BARNARD: Yeah, it was unreal. Yeah, I don't know what to say. I think he was unbeatable this week.

Q. What have you enjoyed most about the championship?

CHARL BARNARD: I love how much effort the R&A put into everything, the games, hotel, everything. Probably the best tournament we play the whole year so it's very special, yeah.
