TPC Scottsdale

Quick Quotes

Q. Okay Max, 3-under par today. Nice round. Just get some comments on your play.

MAX HOMA: Yeah, a little sloppy. I came in this week hitting it really well, and I don't know, just was a little out of sequence I think.

But pretty happy with just like the totality of the game. Nothing was too special. Did a really good job. Hit enough good shots to make birdies and enough good short game shots to save par.

Just kind of like where I'm at going into the weekend as far as how the golf game feels.

Q. Is that encouraging when you know you had been hitting it pretty well that that will come around and you put yourself in a good spot?

MAX HOMA: Yeah, it's just kind of frustrating knowing what kind of -- expectations are a hell of a drug. I drove it so well the last seven or eight days, but it is nice to know it's in there. I just got to wait. I still hit some really good ones coming down the stretch, so that is encouraging.

I didn't hit my irons well today but that rarely happens. It's nice that the things I've been trying to get better at as far as scoring and keeping the really bad drives away, that stood up today.

Yeah, rather play better than I did the last two days, but I feel like it's coming, which is good.

Q. What was your best shot?

MAX HOMA: I hit a 7-wood on 3 today that was pretty good to that front pin. Hit a really high cut to, I don't know, 20 feet.

Q. This isn't related to your play today, but what are your thoughts on just Good Good and what they're doing for the game and just their FedEx sponsored event coming up in November?

MAX HOMA: Yeah, it's really awesome. Played with those guys a long time ago. To see how far they've come is cool. They're all great dudes. All have such a cool passion for the sport.

I'm probably a little old for their target audience, but to see their target audience and how excited those kids get, as someone who has two boys, if they had people to watch on YouTube and learn the game from like them, I would be a very lucky dad.

So I'm really impressed with what they're doing and happy that they're running with it, their event on TOUR and being associated with us.

Q. Their rise in popularity just continues to grow. Have the thoughts from other PGA members sort of changed over the last couple years regarding them would you say?

MAX HOMA: I can only speak for myself. I never really had a bad thought, so wouldn't say it changed. But i don't think that's a bad thing.

Q. What's your outlook for the weekend? What do you want to do a little bit better?

MAX HOMA: If I drive it better I know my irons will click in. I just got to drive it better and give myself some opportunities. When I did that today I felt like I had some pretty good looks at birdie.

So really I think that, if I can just find a little rhythm.

Q. Were the greens a little bit more receptive than they were last night? Seemed like they got pretty firm.

MAX HOMA: Oh, see, I thought they were soft all day yesterday. I've been waiting for them to firm up. Maybe tomorrow.

Q. (No microphone.) (Regarding Joel converting him to a Seahawks fan.)

MAX HOMA: No. I talked to him more about the Dodgers than Hawks. No, he didn't, but I obviously always want Joel to be happy. Hopefully they do well for his sake. It's odd not having a dog in the fight at all. Just get to watch Super Bowl and hopefully it's a good game.

Q. Do you have a prediction for the big game?

MAX HOMA: I've been running 28-24 like the last one, Patriots win again. I just think that would be funny.

Q. Last thing. You're just an average golf fan going out and you're interested in golf. Would you go to 16 and watch golf, you personally, or would you go somewhere else on this golf course? What would you want to do if you're just a golf fan wanting to watch golf?

MAX HOMA: If you just want to watch golf you go to the front nine. If you're asking me I would go to 16.

Q. Okay. Why?

MAX HOMA: To drink.
