LIV GOLF RIYADH

February 6, 2026

Elvis Smylie

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Riyadh Golf Club

Ripper GC

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome Elvis Smylie from Ripper GC. Elvis, well-played today, 7-under par round of 65. You're tied for the lead with one round to go here at ROSHN Group LIV Golf Riyadh. Can you talk us through your round tonight?

ELVIS SMYLIE: Yeah, it was faultless, bogey-free 7-under. Felt like I was in total control of my shots out there today, and my putter is continuing to behave, which is nice.

Yeah, I feel like I'm in total control, which is great.

Q. Three great rounds you've put together, 66, 69, 65 already this week. Some different conditions each day. Can you talk about the difference for you out there today and how it helps you?

ELVIS SMYLIE: Yeah, I think as the week is going on, I'm just getting more and more used to playing at the altitude. The wind is kind of swirling around a little bit, and I feel like I'm doing a little bit of a better job at those finesse 70 to 80 percent shots. You're not always hitting 100 percent shots out there, so I think it's something that my caddie and I, Brad Beecher, have been doing a really good job at, just feeling a particular number and really committing to that and giving myself a lot of chances at good putts.

I feel like everything is going in, which is great.

Q. You are making your LIV Golf debut here this week. What would the win mean for you tomorrow to get it done on your opening event?

ELVIS SMYLIE: Yeah, it would be really cool. It's such a great environment for me to get better in, and to be able to get the individual win and then hopefully we can try and get up there in the team event, as well, that would be awesome.

Q. Following up, what would it mean to win going into next week?

ELVIS SMYLIE: Yeah, it would be a huge confidence booster for me, knowing that this is my debut and first tournament that I'm competing in as a LIV Golfer. I think it'll give me a lot of confidence for the rest of the year, and knowing that there's a lot of world-class players out here that I'm competing against and managing to do pretty well against them.

Q. Coming into your first event, is it a thought of maybe, hey, I want to make an early statement about what I'm bringing to the table here at LIV?

ELVIS SMYLIE: Yeah, without a doubt. I want to prove my worth in this league, and I want to establish myself as one of the best guys in this league, and the best way to do that is by going out and making a statement this week, and that's what I'm doing a really good job with so far.

Q. What's it been like with the Ripper boys this week? Your first week in a tournament environment with the team concept, how much fun have you guys had?

ELVIS SMYLIE: Yeah, we've had a lot of fun. I think what the Rippers stand for is a really strong mate-ship amongst the group, especially with all the staff members, as well. I've known Cam for quite a long time now, and same as Leish and Herby. It's just really cool just being around them because golf can be quite an isolating sport. To be able to be in a team environment where you're constantly learning off each other, I'm really enjoying that part.

Q. Do you have a target score maybe, because at one point it looked like maybe 20 might be a score, but now 20 doesn't look like it's going to do it tomorrow.

ELVIS SMYLIE: Yeah, I'm not really looking at a particular score. I'm more so just trying to execute my shots as best I can. I know it sounds cliche, but I think if you try and put a limit to a particular score, you can get in your own way. I think for me, it's just about continuing to do what I'm doing and being calm out there and having good communication with my caddie, and we'll see what happens.
