AFRICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

February 6, 2026

Ivan Verster

Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

Quick Quotes

Q. First of all, just a quick reaction to your round today.

IVAN VERSTER: I wouldn't say disappointed; but under par is always good. But sort of fell back a bit. A little bit disappointed. I didn't really get going today, but that's okay.

Q. What do you do from now to get your confidence up for tomorrow?

IVAN VERSTER: Not much, to be honest. I hit good putts, just didn't drop. So maybe just get reading the lines slightly better or whatever. So figure something out and get going for tomorrow.

Q. You're four behind the leader. How would it feel to lift that trophy tomorrow?

IVAN VERSTER: It would be amazing. I was so close two years ago. Still don't know how a 7-iron went 197. But it's okay, we'll worry about that tomorrow.

Q. Winning tomorrow gives you exemptions into amateur and professional championships, including The Open. What would that mean to you?

IVAN VERSTER: It would mean a lot to get into those events, but like I said, I'm just trying to still focus on tomorrow before I get too ahead of myself.
