Q. Michael solid start. What were the main takeaways from today?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: Had a couple three putts early in the round. Kind of just took it one shot at a time. Just trying to hit fairways, greens out here. It was playing pretty tough with the wind.

Yeah, just kind of rolled with the punches I guess.

Q. Not as raucous out there if you get started early. What's the vibe, the environment with the fans?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: Yeah, it was still great. We played the front nine first so we had -- you can hear 16 starting on hole 3 for me, which I was second group off.

It's obviously very loud in there. I'm thankful that I got to play last year. Definitely get used to it a little bit.

But, yeah, obviously it was a lot of fun.

Q. With the Desert Open yesterday and PGA pairing with Good Good for the FedExCup in the fall, do you feel like the pairing is a good thing for the sport of golf?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: Yeah, I definitely think so. Good Good has done an amazing job the past five, six years kind of growing their brand, getting more people into golf. That's really the main goal of kind of what we're doing with the PGA TOUR out here as well.

So, yeah, I think a lot more fans are going to go just because they are connected to -- or the tournament is connected to Good Good. It'll be interesting to see.

Q. Are you going to make any Super Bowl picks?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: Obviously I'm going to pick my Patriots.

Q. Spread? No spread?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: What is it, four and a half now? I mean if they lose by three I'm still going to be upset. If I go with anything I'll just take money line honestly. Yeah, going to be a good game. Hopefully I get to watch a little bit of it.

Q. Are you a prop guy at all or no?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: I really try and stay away from props.

Q. But you don't?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: During the season if I'm home and watching I'll make a little player prop or whatnot. No, I'm not going to give you any prop picks.

Then you pick five or six things and next thing you realize none of this is going to happen.

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: Exactly.
