THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome Peter Uihlein from RangeGoats GC. Well played today, 3-under par round of 69. You're currently tied for the lead at 10-under par at the halfway stage here in Riyadh. Can you take us through your round today?
PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, it was decent at the start. I hit a great second shot on 3 that went right at the flag, the par-5, and then it just went long in the water but made a nice par. Nice birdie on the next hole. Birdied 8.
I made two bogeys middle of the round, but felt like once you get to hole, I think it's 13 now, so once you get to 13, the par-5, and then you kind of knew everything else was going to be downwind, you kind of felt like -- my caddie and I, once we got on that hole, we were like, okay, let's try to get at least two or three coming in, and I was able to get three, which was nice.
Q. Leading at the halfway stage, what does it mean to you to get off your 2026 year to a hot start like this?
PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, it's good. I did a lot of work this off-season. I didn't really stop. I kept playing. I played a few events. But for the most part when I was home I just played and practiced every day. So I didn't feel like I'm that rusty at all coming in.
Would have loved to have played an event, obviously, before this one, but it's nice to come in and -- I just feel like I've been playing pretty well the last month or so. It's nice to carry it over into this week.
Q. You talked yesterday about a crazy moment. Was there one out there today?
PETER UIHLEIN: My ball moved, I guess, on 9. Never had that happen before. So that was a penalty, so that was sweet.
The craziest one was hole 10. I hit driver -- mini-driver and still had 105 yards in. The hole is 690 straight into the wind. Then the wind was picking up -- the craziest moment is it's raining right now, so I think that's probably the craziest thing that's happened all day.
Q. What would a win in LIV mean out here for you because you've been knocking on the door a few times. Obviously the first season was great. You've won in a couple International Series events, but what would a win here in your fifth season mean?
PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, it would be awesome. That's what we want to do. We want to win individually. We want to win as a team.
The team might be out of it this week. Not entirely sure. Individual is the only thing I've got going for me.
But winning individual would -- yeah, that's what the goal is is to win, and now that we get world ranking points, you can jump up in the OWGR and try and get in the majors. That's definitely the goal.
Yeah, it would be awesome, right? There's some unbelievable players out here, and to say you've won and beat them definitely would be pretty special.
Q. How would you describe the field now versus earlier in the LIV history?
PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, I mean, originally we only had 48 guys. Now we have 57. The field is definitely deeper. It's stronger.
I played with Elvis today. Great young Aussie player. They got really, really good again.
You see these teams and you see the depth of everybody, and it's like, man, before it was like, all right, you had two, maybe three guys on the team. Now it's like all four are really good. It feels like any team can win any week.
The field is so much deeper than it has been in years past.
Q. You touched on a couple of things not going your way today. In your opinion, what was the most important thing that didn't help in making the same score line you had yesterday?
PETER UIHLEIN: I putted well. Made some nice putts. Early on made a nice par on 3 after hitting my second shot over the green in the water, which was a great shot, so I was kind of bummed that it ended up there. But I made a nice putt for par there. Made a nice putt for par on 5.
Just was solid, really, on the greens, which was nice. Didn't feel like I was stressed at all or stressed -- lagged it up pretty close most of the time and felt like I made the putts I needed to make. That kind of kept the round going for me.
Q. Talk about playing under the lights but on two different days, in two different conditions, two different circumstances. How difficult is it to do that, and in your opinion, what are the most important things happening?
PETER UIHLEIN: Yeah, it's tough under the lights. If you hit it in certain spots and the light is shining kind of right on top of you, the ball is just basically pitch black. You really can't even see it. That's happened to me twice out of the bunker, and I've chunked it both times. It's very difficult.
But for the most part, reality is everyone has got to do it. You just kind of embrace it. I feel like I've embraced it well. I enjoy this. I think it's fun, it's entertaining, and it's unique. It's the only thing in golf that's something like this. I've enjoyed it the first two days.
Today was windier, a little bit firmer, whereas yesterday it kind of got soft and there was some moisture on the greens, so it played a little bit easier, but today was definitely a little bit firmer and a little bit tougher with the wind.
