Quick Quotes
Q. You've had a phenomenal round, seven birdies. Tell me a little bit about how you're feeling about that.
JACK BUCHANAN: Yeah, I got off to a decent start, birdieing three of the first five or six, so that was a nice start. Then just kind of continued the momentum going forward, just hitting the ball close, hitting fairways and hitting it close. It was nice to kind of make that many birdies in a round of golf for a change.
Q. How were you feeling about the course today?
JACK BUCHANAN: Course is good. Course has been very good up until now. Very similar to one of the courses that we play in Los Angeles. Feels just kind of like I'm back home at school now.
Yeah, Royal Johannesburg has certainly been good so far and the staff have been amazing inside, too.
Q. You hit a sensational shot on the 16th to get another birdie. Talk me through that.
JACK BUCHANAN: Yeah, 16th, par-3, I hit a wedge. I think I was playing it like 138 meters at sea level. Landed it a couple feet past and spun back to like a foot.
Q. You're now playing at university in the States. Tell what being in America has done for your game.
JACK BUCHANAN: Yeah, I love the States, being in Southern California, the University of Southern California. We get to play some really good courses, major championship courses in LACC and Riviera Country Club almost on the daily, so getting to practice at really tough courses really prepares you well when you come back to South Africa and courses are a bit shorter and softer. It's tougher in the U.S. I feel like, so when you get back here it feels a bit easier, although it's just different styles of golf.
Q. After that, what does that do for your confidence going into tomorrow?
JACK BUCHANAN: Yeah, it's only 36 holes done out of 72, so still two more rounds to go. But I'm swinging it well, feeling well, so I'm excited for the last two rounds.
