AFRICA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

February 4, 2026

Charlotte Millard

Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

Quick Quotes

Q. You ended the round 1-over there with a couple of challenging shots at the end. Can you tell me how you're feeling after that?

CHARLOTTE MILLARD: Yeah, I'm quite happy with the way I was playing the first 17 holes. The 18th hole was a bit of a challenge, but my short game definitely saved me today. Made a good up-and-down for bogey on 18, thankfully.

Q. You mentioned earlier the conditions were quite testing. How would you define that?

CHARLOTTE MILLARD: It was very hot out there from the start. Even after the warmup we were really sweating. It's quite challenging. Just had to drink a lot of water throughout the day. Teeing off quite late, so already starting off a bit tired.

Q. You had a slightly tougher time around the back nine. Can you tell me about that?

CHARLOTTE MILLARD: Yeah, if you know the pin on the front left, I was over the bunker, so another good bogey there. Otherwise hit a couple close but didn't make the putts for birdie, and just made two drops coming in, which wasn't great, but it was all right.

Q. Going into tomorrow's round, how much confidence does today's performance give you?

CHARLOTTE MILLARD: I'm feeling quite good. I was hitting it nicely off the tee box, but approach shots weren't so good. Finished out all right, scored well, so feeling good for tomorrow. Hopefully hit it a bit better.
