Q. Bryan, so we're here at Royal Johannesburg for the third round of the Africa Amateur Championship. You're here as defending champion. How are you feeling coming into the week?
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, I'm really excited to be back playing if tournament again. It's a real privilege to play it again.
I'm looking forward to it. Yeah, very excited.
Q. As defending champion, you've had a great year. What did that mean to win last year and come and be that person everyone is coming to beat?
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, I had the most unbelievable time last year, especially at The Open. Very grateful for the R&A for these opportunities. Yeah, it was awesome and I couldn't be more happy.
Q. How did it feel it lift that trophy last year at Leopard Creek?
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, it was awesome. It was a big relief, and I was just really looking forward to what was couple come. Now it's all happened, and I really want to do it again obviously.
Q. Talk to me a little bit about your experience at The Open last year at Portrush. What did it mean? What did you take from it?
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, it was so cool to just be there, see all the big names, and be one of them for the week.
I learnt a lot for sure about my golf and just about being at the highest level. Definitely a lot to work on, but it was an awesome experience.
Q. Do you have any particular memories that stand out, surreal experiences, any big players that you...
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, yeah, I saw a lot of big players. It was just so cool like on the first tee hearing your name getting called out, and there of always a bum people watching you at The Open. There is a lot of spectators and that's just always so cool.
Q. How important is it to have this championship, the Africa Amateur bringing players together from all over Africa? You probably don't necessarily play with them throughout the yea.
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah.
Q. And providing that opportunity for elite amateur golf in Africa.
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, it's so awesome that the R&A is able to grow the game so well in Africa. You know, even though we're from the same continent I haven't met most of these people, so it's nice to meet some new people and make new friends, and yeah, learn from each other.
Q. Having been to the Open once already, does that bring you extra motivation this year to get back?
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, absolutely, I would say so. Once again, I had the most incredible time at The Open so if I could do that again, I would really love to.

Q. Who inspires you in golf?
BRYAN NEWMAN: Probably my parents. They're big supporters of me, so, yeah, I would say so.
Q. Did they got you into the game?
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yes, for sure they did.
Q. What was that like early memories, was it your parents taking you out as a five-year-old.
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah.
Q. Describe that a little bit.
BRYAN NEWMAN: Yeah, just going to the chipping green with my parents and spend the afternoon there having a lot fun definitely inspired me to continue with my golf career.
Q. What does golf mean to you?
BRYAN NEWMAN: Golf means a lot me. As everyone else, try not to make it my whole life, but definitely means a lot to me.
