AUSTRALIAN OPEN

January 19, 2026

Laslo Djere

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Press Conference

S. WAWRINKA/L. Djere

5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6

THE MODERATOR: Laslo, not the result you wanted to today. How do you reflect on your match against Stan?

LASLO DJERE: I mean, physically I've been in better shape before. I'm definitely not at my best. Otherwise, it was a tough match. I feel he played quite a good tennis.

Yeah, I struggled with a few things. And yeah, it was close. But he didn't really give me a lot of chances. He used his own chances well. Yeah, he was the better today.

Q. It looked like he was using the energy of the crowd as well. How would you describe what happened from set two onwards?

LASLO DJERE: I don't know. I mean, that was expected that the crowd will be on his side, so I didn't really care much about the crowd, whether he used their energy or not. Probably, but that's more a question to him, not for me.

Q. I mean, to be still playing him at 40 years old, how do you see his legacy in tennis?

LASLO DJERE: I mean, he's one of the greats of the sport. Obviously, his level dropped from where it was 10 years ago. But, I mean, that's expected and that's normal.

He's still able to play on a high level. So, yeah, I mean, he's doing good, I think. I don't know. Like, his tennis is still good.
