AARON HICKS: I mean, it started out great. You know, I was able to hit some good shots early on to get comfortable.

Had some really good looks. Was able to make some putts. Yeah, that was pretty much it.

AARON HICKS: Okay.

Q. What's your club head speed and average distance off the tee?

AARON HICKS: Okay, so my average club head speed would probably be 129, and then my average ball speed is probably like 192.

Q. How are your nerves different in baseball than golf?

AARON HICKS: I'm a lot more nervous in golf than baseball. But it's good nerves. It means that it means something to me. Yeah, it means I'm in a good spot.

Q. What is it like being interviewed by your wife for her new Podcast?

AARON HICKS: It's awesome. I love it. We have conversations like that all the time, so being able to be a part of her new Podcast and help her out was awesome.

Q. You live in the desert. What's the game plan for this weekend's cold weather?

AARON HICKS: Dress warm and just try to make good contact. I feel like that's the best way to go about playing in the cold, is just try and make good contact and try to dress as warm as possible.

Q. Is 66 your career low in a tournament?

AARON HICKS: Yes. It is my career low in a tournament, yep.

Q. I was going to ask about the career low. I guess I'll rephrase it. What was your best previous competitive round before today?

AARON HICKS: 66.

Q. Okay.

AARON HICKS: Yeah, so ties me, yeah.

Q. Was that at Tahoe?

AARON HICKS: No, that event was a mini tour event I went and tried to go play at and see how my game matches up against those guys. Came right after a 78, so I was like, I got to show these guys I can play, and come back with a 66.

Q. Was that in Arizona?

AARON HICKS: Yep, Arizona.

Q. I don't know if it struck you, but the five names right behind you on this leaderboard are all former champions. How does it shape up to be chased by just about everybody else that's won this event?

AARON HICKS: I love it. I love playing with these guys. They make it fun. They make it enjoyable. It's always good to have good competition, especially when you know all of them.
