Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Lottie Woad after the second round. Can you talk a little bit about today's round with us? You mentioned a lot of close pins or hitting close to a lot of pins. Can you just talk through it a little bit?
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, the first I guess 15 holes I was just hitting everything inside of like 12, 15 feet. A lot of kind of eight-footers for birdie and just didn't make them, which was really annoying.
Just tried to keep playing well tee to green. Then holed a good par save on 16 and 17 so kind of made me feel a bit better.
Q. Can you talk a little bit about, too, you played with Mardy Fish and Aaron Hicks today.
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, they both played great. I think Aaron shot 66 or something like that so he hits the ball miles, so quite fun to watch.
I had to make sure I wasn't trying to copy the lines he was going off because I couldn't carry any of that.
Q. Did you guys have any fun interactions or stories at all?
LOTTIE WOAD: Mardy told me he had a friend that went to FSU, so he went up there when he was younger and went to all the bars. Those ones he was talking about are still here today, so he was just checking if they were there.
Q. And then last question from me: It seems to be that your caddie give you a high five sometimes and you do not give him a high five. Talk about that a little bit.
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, probably looks bad, but like he has a thing that he does like a handshake, high five with each player, and I'm like very not doing that.
So we kind of made it up at Grant Thornton. He goes for high five and then I don't do it, and he just goes like that. I do that sometimes, too. Maybe sometimes I have my putter in my hand. Looks like I probably hate him on TV but I don't.
Q. But it's still part of the hype?
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, it's a celebration. It just doesn't look like it.
Q. How do you keep yourself from getting frustrated when putts aren't dropping? How do you build on good ball striking as you head into the weekend?
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I looked at the leaderboard quite a lot today because I was getting annoyed. Seemed like there weren't that many low scores out there, so kind of knew I was still in it.
The pins were probably a little trickier so weren't as many birdies as yesterday, so I just got to keep giving myself chances is all I could do.
I was hitting good putts. Slight misreads here and there. I knew if I kept rolling it that some would go in.
Q. Looking ahead to the weekend, obviously conditions will not be ideal. How do you block that out, ignore the elements, and really focus on what's in front of you?
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, it doesn't look great. No idea when we're teeing off or anything. I'm just going to finds out when they send out the e-mail. It's going to be windy at least tomorrow and cold on Sunday, but I know I know how to play in the wind.
Yeah, it'll be a challenge, but it'll be fun as well.
Q. A lot of the pros sometimes say that if you're in a good pairing that you pull each other along. Can you do that with good amateurs, too?
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, I think so. Like when we each were making a birdie you're giving each other a fist bump stuff like that. Like everyone was playing really well.
It's easier to get momentum I think that way then if you got people struggling in your group. Sometimes it can put you off a little bit.
Q. What's the coldest you've ever played at FSU?
LOTTIE WOAD: In Florida? Oh, it can get cold there. Yeah, it's probably colder there today than it is here.
I work in celsius, but negative, we played in negative degrees before.
Q. Did it surprise you when you first got there how cold Tallahassee can get?
LOTTIE WOAD: Yeah, but I got there -- when I first game it was August and I was begging for the cold. Yeah, it gets cold, but then I look at the temperature in England at that time, I'm like, well, could be worse.
