THE MODERATOR: Shane, not your night. Started with what seemed like a pretty competitive match and then got away from you at the end. Just some comments about how things went out there.
SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, it wasn't great, was it. Yeah, we just didn't play very well. We got down early, and then even like we'd hole a good putt to not drop two points on one hole -- it felt like we were behind the black ball for most of the night for some reason. But yeah, we hit some bad shots, and I certainly didn't feel great out there. I wasn't starting the ball where I thought I was. Yeah, it was a tough one.
Q. Shane, I'm curious if you can give us a little insight on how you determine who goes first, second, third. Seemed like you got a tough draw, two par-5s against Rory, you get the two longest par-4s. How do you come up with the lineup construction? Is it predetermined, or is that up to you guys?
SHANE LOWRY: I have no idea.
WYNDHAM CLARK: Well, we might need to switch it. No, we just show up and they tell us what we're doing. Clearly maybe the matchup against Rory wasn't the best, but also it's Shane Lowry; he can beat anybody.
SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, I play against him every week. It's like, yes, he's Rory McIlroy, but yeah, it's going to be hard for any of us to beat him, isn't it.
I know probably certainly one par-5 in the trip will suit with him, but he still has to hit good shots. I said to the boys, if we make a 4, we still tie the hole, at worst. Like, they're not going to make eagle. That's the way golf is, yeah.
Q. Shane, you played with Rory as a teammate and against him tonight. What changes mentally when the roles flip?
SHANE LOWRY: I don't know, you just hate losing, don't you. It's probably worse losing to one of your friends. I remember being paired with him the final round at Pebble last year when he beat me there, and it actually hurts nearly a little bit more because you want it so bad.
But yeah, it's obviously a different dynamic out here than it is on the PGA TOUR, but you're still out there wanting to win. We certainly didn't do that tonight.
Q. Shane, can you blame jet lag?
SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, I wasn't great. I'm pretty tired. But I signed up to play, so I should have been better, and I wasn't. Yeah, I had a long previous 24 hours.
Q. Min Woo, can you describe the bunker shot on the 11th hole, how you saw that play out?
MIN WOO LEE: Is that the one I just missed? Yeah, I thought it was a really good shot. I put a little cut spin on it, so I thought it was going to bounce right a little bit, and then obviously there's a big slope there.
But no, love chipping around here and hitting shots, and yeah, it wasn't our night, but it's a bit of fun.
Q. Min Woo, you've been known as "Dr. Chipinsky." How important is creativity around the green in TGL?
MIN WOO LEE: Yeah, it's very important. I think with a good lie you can hole some chips out here, which I like, when you get a clean lie and you can hit the back of the ball.
You know how the greens are running; you can be pretty close. It's nice to have that imagination, and it's fun.
Q. Non-TGL questions for a couple of you guys. Shane, this week Brooks returns to the PGA TOUR. Just wanted to get your reaction to what that could mean to the TOUR, getting Brooks back, and what do you think about how it went down and the penalties and everything that occurred there?
SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, I spoke a little bit about this in Dubai the last couple of weeks and got asked about it. I sort of don't really have, like, too much of an opinion on it. I think it's good for him that he's back. I think it's going to be good for certain tournaments that he's back. He's going to play tournaments maybe on the PGA TOUR this year that not many big-name players are going to play, which is good.
As regards the penalties, I'm not going to stand here and say, he should pay 5 million or 10 million or whatever it is. I think he came to an agreement with the TOUR and he came to an agreement with LIV to leave, and I think it's good for him that he's back. It's good for him; he's done what he's wanted to do, and he feels like that's the right decision for him and his family. Fair play to him for being the first one to do that.
Q. Wyndham, same question, and Min Woo?
WYNDHAM CLARK: Yeah, I mean, we all love Brooks, at least on the USA team side. Good friends with Brooks. I know he's been missing some of the competition that's on the PGA TOUR, and I think he's excited to come back. Like Shane said, I think it's great for the TOUR, and who knows, maybe he's the first one of maybe many.
But yeah, I think it just helps the TOUR, and whatever helps the TOUR is what I think all of us want because that ultimately helps all of us.
Q. Shane, you said that you weren't starting the ball where you wanted to. Obviously here at TGL you have access to a lot more data after each shot. How much attention do you pay to that, and do you make any adjustments after seeing the data?
SHANE LOWRY: No, I don't. If you asked me am I going to go home and dissect my game from this evening and go work on it tomorrow, no.
I just felt like I was starting the ball too far right on the screen today. I hit it pretty good when we did the warmup, and then it just seemed to kind of elude me when I was out there.
Look, I'm obviously not moving like I would normally. I sat on a plane for 17 hours over the last 24 hours, and I came home and tried to get moving. I'm getting older. It's getting harder.
I was going to say without making excuses, but I just did make excuses there.
But no, I won't go away and dissect it.
I think what I need to do is next time -- I didn't get the opportunity -- I only got home to my house at 1:00 today, so I didn't even get the opportunity to come in here today, but I think the next time before a game I do need to get in here that morning and get some reps in on the screen because it does take a little bit of getting used to.
Q. Shane, just your thoughts on the recent announcement for WTGL and what it means to grow the game of golf as a whole but also getting the experience for yourself what it means for the women that are going to have the opportunity to play in front of this crowd?
SHANE LOWRY: I think it's great. Look, what TGL have done over the last -- well, it started a few years ago, but obviously we started playing last year. I think what they've done for us and for even, like, our games and the exposure we get now and our sort of -- like the exposure we get, it's great for us, and it's going to be great for the women, as well. I think they'll enjoy it. They'll have a great time doing it. Hopefully the crowds come out and watch them, and it's going to be on TV, as well, and it'll be enjoyable.
I think going down the road, who knows where it's going to go, whether it'll be women and men coming together and playing mixed games. I think that would be fun, as well, so yeah.
