Quick Quotes
Q. Starting off the week with 72, followed up by a 60, and a great weekend. Looks like probably best finish since 2022 in Japan. How did the week go for you?
ANDREW PUTNAM: Yeah, slow start. I played pretty good that first day the hole seemed really small and then it opened up. So yeah, I'll take it. It's great start to my season. Didn't really know what tournaments I'm getting in, so it's nice to play well when I got in.
Q. Second round 60, what's that do for you momentum-wise?
ANDREW PUTNAM: Yeah, I hadn't had a round like that where I felt like I was just in the zone, just pretty much everything was going right. To have it when you're playing on the PGA TOUR event is just a dream come true. Yeah game's in a good spot and excited for what's to come.
Q. You've had in other years more security with the schedule, knowing that tied runner-up finish is going to put you in a good spot to potentially get into a couple in the beginning. How important is that?
ANDREW PUTNAM: Yeah, it's huge. The West Coast is kind of my favorite part of the year. I usually play pretty well. Not being in Sony was tough because I love that event. I played really well there before. So whatever I can do to possibly get in anymore events will be huge for my schedule.
Q. As you have taken time to assess the end of last year and now kind of starting out what you worked on in the off-season what was it that you felt like you needed and maybe found early on?
ANDREW PUTNAM: I've been in the gym every day, just going my body healthy. I'm trying to get a little more speed. I probably didn't show it today. Felt like I'm comfortable hitting it a little bit harder, which is nice when I need to. There's a couple bunkers this week that I felt like I had a hard time carrying that I could give it a little extra and carry. So that stuff's going to be big for the rest of the season.
Q. Just getting this off the start, getting some points in the bag, does that kind of loosen tensions at all or anything?
ANDREW PUTNAM: No, there's always tension on the PGA TOUR, there's always something to play for. I mean, it's nice to know you're playing well and see some results.
