Quick Quotes
Q. (No Microphone.)
BEN GRIFFIN: You can't let up at all, so it was nice to finish strong.
Q. Coming off a top 20 week last week at the Sony in Hawaii, feels like you're picking up right where you left off. Was there anything in your short off-season that you had, was there anything that you were working on in particular to get going this season?
BEN GRIFFIN: Not really. I was coming off a pretty strong year last year, so a lot of it was trying to rest a little bit. Got married. I had some off-course things going on. And then just gearing up for the season, just trying to continue to do the same stuff. I just won in my last start in Cabo leading into the season. So I knew my game was there, I just needed to make sure I felt ready to go when the season started. Yeah, I was bummed a little bit last week, 19th finish, 19th place. It was a solid week, but I definitely left a lot out there. I 3-putted one hole three out of the four rounds, and didn't take advantage of the par-5s that week which I needed to. So this week I know I needed to stay aggressive and that's my goal.
Q. What does that say, putting it in perspective, that you feel that way. Maybe you would have felt that way last year as well, but knowing the finishes that you were able to put together last year, how does that change your expectations for this season?
BEN GRIFFIN: My expectations are definitely higher. Perspective always shifts. My rookie year I'd take a lot of top-20 finishes. Now I'm at the point in my career where I want to win. It's really fun to win. I'm just trying to do my best to get myself in the right shape and get my swing in the right shape to be able to get in contention most weeks out here on TOUR. Yeah, it's nice to have kind of mediocre weeks where I still finish in the top 20. So, learned a little bit from last week, trying to still work on a few little things, but I'll be ready to go for these next three rounds.
Q. Perspective is important, you brought it up, maybe the biggest change off the course in the off-season is you're married now. Your wife Dana was walking around, she might be in earshot right now of this interview. Has that changed a little bit of your mental perspective?
BEN GRIFFIN: Definitely physical perspective, left hand is heavier. Mental perspective, I feel like we're pretty similar people still. We're just official. We've been together for a long time, so it was coming, and we knew it was, and it's been awesome being married to her.
