HERO DUBAI DESERT CLASSIC

January 22, 2026

Ross Fisher

Dubaii, UAE

Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club

Press Conference

Q. What an achievement, 500th event on the DP World Tour. How does that make you feel?

ROSS FISHER: Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's obviously a unique milestone to achieve. I'd say when you first out on tour, you never really have that goal in your mind. But throughout the years that I've been on tour, I've seen some guys like Miguel and Howler and some other guys reach that milestone.

Yeah, to get that is pretty special, and to do it in such an iconic venue like here in Dubai, it's pretty cool.

Q. Do you remember your first event?

ROSS FISHER: Yes. Yeah. First event as a pro, I got an invitation into the Ken Schofield Memorial at Woburn in 2004. I think I played six events in '04. Went to qualifying school. Got through first stage, second stage, missed the cut in the finals and played the whole year on The Challenge Tour and managed to get through Challenge Tour but it wasn't a great ranking back in 2005.

So I went to Qualifying School and bettered my ranking. Got my card at the end of '05 in my first four events, and hit the ground running. I was last group in my first event in Volvo China and four weeks later, I was leading South Africa by five.

It seems a lifetime ago but happy the body is still fit and able to move at 45, and what's this season, 20, 21 I think, it's pretty cool to be out here still.

Q. Looking back at when you first appeared, it's a fairly long time. What are you most proud of in that 500?

ROSS FISHER: I suppose consistency throughout my career. In the early days, I would say the last probably four or five years, it's been a bit of a struggle. Keeping last card two years in a row and having to rely on career money for this season's something that you never want to have to fall back on. You want to keep your playing rights but it's nice to have such a healthy and good career that I can fall back on the Career Money List.

So I will certainly try my hardest this season to keep my playing rights for the following season.

Q. Now that you have 500, do you have 600 in your sights?

ROSS FISHER: That's a long way off. What's that, another hundred to go? Depends how many events you play. In my career, I've played between 22 and 24, and if things aren't going so well, it's more like 28 to 30. I'd have to be going a few more years. But it's not out of possibility, that's for sure.

So if I can stay healthy and fit and keep on tour, then who knows.
