Quick Quotes

Q. Ryan, how difficult were the conditions out there today and how pleased are you with your round?

RYAN GERARD: You know, it's really just kind of blowing and sometimes inconsistent with the direction. Sometimes you feel like the ball might get knocked down a little bit and it kind of floats on you and kind of tumbles and goes forever. Sometimes you're almost sure it's going float and really ride the wind and it just drops short.

It's really an exercise in patience and just understanding where the next leave is the best and going from there. But just knowing it's not going to be easy and just really trying to stay patient and not get too far ahead of yourself because it can go sideways in a hurry right now.

Q. Other than patience, what did you excel at today?

RYAN GERARD: I've been hitting the ball out of the center of the face pretty much all week really nicely. Feel like I've been flighting it really good. Struggled a little off the tee but was able to recover from there.

Yeah, just I feel like I've been striking it nice and just trying to put my golf ball in the best spot possible after the tee shots.

Q. When you went to Mauritius late last year, you played very well, you accomplished what you went to do there. How much confidence does that help you here, but also how much did that help your game stay sharp late in the 2025 year going into 2026?

RYAN GERARD: Yeah, any time you can get competitive reps it's helpful in terms of keeping your game sharp. I feel like a lot of it -- didn't really feel like on offseason this year. Felt like I had a couple few-week breaks.

I did my best to try and recover and do the stuff you need to do in an offseason. But just kind of keep playing tournaments like that allows to you just mentally not really have too much rust when you come out here.

I know that's something I struggled with early in the year last year was kind of dumb, silly mistakes you make because you hadn't been playing tournament golf in a while.

I have a lot those out of the way because feels like I just still am playing 2025 season, it's just 2026 now.
