Waialae Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Nick, difficult day with the conditions. Kind of like yesterday; maybe a little different direction. What was the most difficult part of that and how do you feel like you managed your game?

NICK TAYLOR: I felt like tee-to-green was same difficulty-wise. Hitting fairways with the crosswinds, the greens -- or sorry, the fairways are only getting more firm. You're landing on the left center and it kicks and it just keeps running into those bunkers or the rough.

I was able to hit some fairways coming in which definitely helped. Speed probably wasn't as good today, but, again, with the wind some are downhill putts blowing into the and vice versa, so it's just tricky.

If I can find a few more fairways tomorrow and make it a little easier on myself. But I grinded it out and gave myself a chance for tomorrow. That's kind of all you can ask for.

Q. What was the best part of your game today?

NICK TAYLOR: You know, the irons were still pretty good. Hit a sloppy one on 11. Overall hit some quality shots to give myself some opportunities. I was happy how I hit it off the tee coming in. Hopefully I can just take that into tomorrow.

Q. Is this a course that can help -- obviously you have a ton of experience now around here, positives ones recently. Does it help having those positive experiences going into a Sunday where you're trying to win here for the second straight year?

NICK TAYLOR: Yeah, certainly. I feel like it's always very bunched here. I kind of took a peek at the leaderboard. I can take a lot from last year. If I make a bunch of pars early there are definitely some birdie holes in there. It feels like with the conditions no one likely will run away with it. Obviously need to get off to a hot start.

It's just tricky to make a lot of birdies. You can be a little bit off and get yourself in a tough spot and potentially make bogey. So if I can stay as patient as long as possible tomorrow, that's definitely what I did last year and it turned out.

Just kind of stay in my own world tomorrow and hopefully have a chance coming down the last few holes.

Q. When you're in contention is there something that you fall back on, whether it's past experience or past wins or whatnot, that helps you?

NICK TAYLOR: Yeah, obviously here I've had great success of the last few years. I can fall back on that tomorrow in any scenario starting out.

You know, being able to win a few times over the last three years, I can definitely draw on those memories as well. So few of them I've come from behind late. One I was kind of there a lot of the Sunday.

So, yeah, a lot of good things I can draw back on and hopefully use those positive vibes for tomorrow.
