Q. You tied the best round of the day to sit in a five for the lead at here at the Dubai Invitational. How pleased with your work today?

SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, very happy. It was hard. It was tricky. You know, like that putt on the last hole, you don't hole a lot of putts like that, and I did well. I did a good job. A couple sloppy mistakes on the front nine, but I was playing good and giving myself chances.

Just had a great day out there. I really enjoyed it. I had a great group. Two great amateurs, and yeah, it was -- playing golf in a good frame of mind makes it a little bit easier. That's sort of a little lesson for me for the rest season. If I play golf like that for the rest season in that frame of mind, I'll be pretty good.

Q. How important was control today?

SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, and patience. Control and everything. Yeah, just putting the ball in play and not doing nothing silly and not making any big mistakes was key out there and I did that.

Q. How much have you enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere to kick off the year?

SHANE LOWRY: It's great. I said, you might have the best Pro-Am in the world. Although it's a bit windy, it's better weather than Dunhill and less stressful than Pebble Beach. Lovely to be out there with a few friends and enjoy my golf.

Q. Looking ahead to the weekend, there's still a tournament to win here for you. How excited are you about that prospect?

SHANE LOWRY: Yeah, looking forward to it. You know, first tournament of the year you don't know what to expect. So going out there in the last group now on Saturday is nice, and yeah, keep it going and we'll see what happens.
