Q. Pretty impressive, well-rounded performance. How were you able to bounce back after the last match?
COCO GAUFF: Yeah, I think for me it felt like one of my worst matches of my career. So I was like, okay, I felt like I was practicing well, and I'm playing practice sets well, and my first match went well. So I tried to erase it and learn from it.
I don't think I was the most positive that match, so I just tried to stay positive regardless of what happened today.
Q. What have you been taking from your performance last year to kind of help you guys? What will it take to defend your title?
COCO GAUFF: Yeah, it's a different experience I think from last year, because last year I didn't lose any matches. So coming in and losing my second match was definitely a change in mindset.
But I think I learned just the pressure, it feels definitely sometimes a bit more when you are playing for a team, but also a little bit less because I feel really confident in Taylor. Obviously I want to win my match, but I feel like if I were to lose, he would be able to pick me up. I think he feels the same, vice versa.
Q. You've been playing both singles and doubles. How has that experience been? Do you think the doubles maybe kind of helped you with the singles?
COCO GAUFF: Oh, for sure, yeah. I definitely served a lot better in my mixed doubles that day, so I felt like I was able to take that confidence into today. I returned well in my mixed.
I wish I hit some of those bigger returns on break points in the match today, but I still was able to break a lot, so not going to be too critical.
