Flash Interview
D. MEDVEDEV/B. Nakashima
6-2, 7-6
Q. So obviously not the result you wanted tonight, but a strong start to the year with a good tournament?
BRANDON NAKASHIMA: Yeah, very nice to be here in Brisbane. Like I said out there, it was my first time here so really enjoyed it. It's great. Great place to start off the year, start off the season.
Really happy that I was able to play some good tennis out here. Came a little bit short in the final, but happy with the week.
Q. How did it feel tonight out there?
BRANDON NAKASHIMA: Yeah, it was tough. Obviously he was playing well right from the beginning, not giving me many errors or not giving me much time to kind of find my rhythm, but, you know, in the end, I was just trying to kind of fight back, fight for every point, see if I can grab some opportunities here and there.
But, yeah, nonetheless, congratulations to him.
Q. What's next? Are you on to Adelaide?
BRANDON NAKASHIMA: Yeah, I'm supposed to be playing Adelaide next week.
Q. How are you feeling ahead of the Open?
BRANDON NAKASHIMA: Yeah, I mean, I'm definitely excited about Australian Open, first Grand Slam of the year. I have never really had much success there in the past, but hopefully this year kind of my luck will change.
Obviously it's a great start playing well here, getting some confidence with a lot of matches. Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to being back in Melbourne.
Q. Apart from the Open, what are the goals for the year?
BRANDON NAKASHIMA: Yeah, I mean, obviously it would be great to win another ATP title. It's been a while since I won my first one, so being back in the finals is a good start for the year, but it would be great to lift the champion trophy sometime this year.
Another goal is definitely to be inside the top 25, top 20, and just kind of keep working from there. Yeah, I'm excited about the year.
