CHRIS GOTTERUP: I don't know. Maybe it's the wind in Oklahoma that kind of got me that way. It's just enough to get the ball in the fairway, other than the second hole today. It's just something that I know is going to -- if anything, it's going to over-cut. If I hit one left, I've got big problems. Usually for some reason that's how my eye sees the ball.
Q. To follow up on that for Chris, 1.7-degree launch, hit it 300 yards on Stinger. Were you asking for that hole? Were you telling your teammates, I got this one?
CHRIS GOTTERUP: No, I mean, I don't know who puts who on the holes. But Ben texted us a couple days ago that that was going to be my hole, and I brought out a special club for it. It worked, and that's my -- back to that, I like to hit the ball low. It's something that I'm comfortable with, and I was able to keep it low enough tonight.
Q. Chris and Billy, you guys played last Sunday. Nine of the 15 holes were the same as the scorecard last week. Do you feel like that gave you an advantage tonight?
BILLY HORSCHEL: I don't know. We come in here and we practice. Chris has been here a lot practicing, and we were in here all three of us today practicing. I'm not sure it gives us an advantage.
I think just being the second match over the Bay, we get comfortable on the putting greens and the chips and everything, so I think that's where the advantage was for Chris and I tonight.
CHRIS GOTTERUP: I think the biggest thing is everyone knows the holes before we even tee off. I think, like Billy is saying, I try to put a lot of time in on the green because the green is complicated, and I think the more you're just on the green and the more you see putts that you've had in the past, you have a better idea, because it's kind of hard with all the lights to read sometimes. I try to lean on Billy, too, because he's been in here a lot.
Q. You know the holes at Augusta before you play them, but you guys are playing these holes better. You keep winning. Why do you think that is? Is it the time put in?
BILLY HORSCHEL: I mean, listen, we care about this TGL. Like we compete at -- we don't want to lose. We want to win. Listen, Augusta and me -- you said Augusta. I'm a mental midget at Augusta, so you could have said a better golf course and I could have given you a better answer maybe, but Augusta I'm a mental midget. Doesn't matter how many times I play it. Doesn't matter how many good shots I have, I'm still going to think about the worst shot possible on that hole too many times.
CHRIS GOTTERUP: I mean, I think as someone who's new to this whole thing, I lean a lot on Billy and Pat, and I have no idea when to throw the hammers and whatnot, but these guys are talking it out and telling me and talking to the team. We're all communicating well. I just think everyone kind of understands what everyone is doing well on our team for the most part, and as a new guy to this, it's been nice to lean on these guys.
Q. Chris talked about having a special club in his bag tonight for the Stinger hole. Do your bags look differently tonight than they would look for a PGA TOUR event, let's say, next week?
BILLY HORSCHEL: My bag I think is pretty much the same. There was talk after last season about adding a wedge that had a little bit more bounce for the bunkers and the into-the-grain shots around the greens, but they changed the turf to be all downgrain so there was no need for that. I don't like to change. I never change. I'm a creature of habit.
If I had that Stinger hole in the future, I may be borrowing his 1-iron because I don't have a 1-iron.
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I use a wedge that is JT's wedge. Like Billy said, it's got more bounce, so it's a little better out of the bunkers and around the greens here off the turf.
Q. Billy, you get so hyped out there when you see these good shots. You kind of explode with excitement. It's so fun. I think it gets us all going, as well. What is it about this that gets you going out there?
BILLY HORSCHEL: I think even on the PGA TOUR, I may not get nearly as excited, but I'm fan of golf. Always have been. I love the game of golf, so if I'm playing with these two guys and they hit a great golf shot, I'm going to tell them. There's times I may give them a fist bump because if it was that good, I'll give them a little fist bump.
Here you can be a little bit more free. These aren't guys I'm competing against; I'm playing with them; they're my partners. When you see some special golf shots like the one Chris had tonight in his situation and then Patrick's chip-in, understanding the situation that Wyndham was probably going to make that putt, he needs to hole it, and you see the guys rise to the occasion, hit a great golf shot, that's really cool to me.
Like I said, I'm a fan of golf, and it's really cool to be with these guys. As I said out there, listen, I've always been the energizer guy, energizer bunny and it's never going to change. I'm in an arena that just allows that to be a little bit more -- come out a little bit more and be a little bit more natural.
Q. Question for Chris. You won the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic at the Dunes and now you're playing a team sport with the TGL. What would you say to the fans in Myrtle Beach that you've learnt most about playing as a team in TGL as opposed to under pressure at the Dunes?
CHRIS GOTTERUP: Yeah, like Billy was just saying, it's a totally different animal in here. It's very scarce that we're rooting for other guys in general playing professional golf, and I think it's fun to be in an arena like this and being able to root for guys, and if you don't hit a great shot, you're able to pull for someone else to kind of dig you out of a hole.
Yeah, there's plenty of pressure in here, too. Your heart gets going a little bit and you've got a tight tee shot and all the matches matter.
It's a lot of fun. It's very different. But at the end it's still golf with some rocks in the way maybe every once in a while. But it's a lot of fun, and I've really enjoyed it so far.
Q. Hole 6 was the obvious turning point in the match. You guys dominated after that. How do you take that momentum into the next match?
BILLY HORSCHEL: Is that where Chris chipped in?
Q. Yeah.
BILLY HORSCHEL: Listen, we've got four weeks until we play our next match, so we've got a little bit of time. But yeah, I think when we come in here, at least for me, I feel comfortable. When you have success and you do well and you're with three guys that you know if you play bad they're going to pick you up, it's pretty easy to sort of keep that momentum going.
But I think we're all excited to get off to a 2-0 start. Puts us in a really good position to make the playoffs. When we come back in a month's time, hopefully we can continue the winning stream and just keep going.
Q. TMRW Sports announced a partnership with the LPGA today of the WTGL. Can you talk about what it means for the women to have the opportunity that you guys have out here?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I think we've already seen the success with TGL and it's been able to highlight a little different side of the guys. To Billy's point, when he's out there, he feels a little more free, so I think seeing that for the LPGA Tour is going to be really exciting.
