Q. I know you guys had your first practice down here today. How are you guys feeling after the long flight and everything, getting ready to get after this thing?
BRYCE BOETTCHER: I feel good. The team feels good. Obviously we had a long flight yesterday, but had a good walk-through last night and a good practice this morning. I think we got our legs under us, and preparation has been great this last week and a half. Coming after that JMU game, energy has been up, and excited to see what happens this Thursday.
Q. A good Texas Tech team, right?
BRYCE BOETTCHER: Yeah, very good team.
Q. You played Texas Tech a couple years ago. What do you remember about that game, and what was your impression of Texas Tech back then?
BRYCE BOETTCHER: Yeah, that was a good game, very good game. Probably the best game I had played in in my career up until that point. The crowd was rocking. The fans were really into it. I remember Tyler Shough was their QB and transferred from Oregon, so that was a pretty good opportunity to play them.
I remember them throwing tortillas on the field. That was pretty good. I had my first sack in that game, so that was cool. Then I remember Jeff Bassa picking off the ball and returning it to the end zone for a pick six at the end, so it was pretty electric.
Q. You talked about the tortillas. What was that like? That's a kind of unique thing at Texas Tech.
BRYCE BOETTCHER: Yeah, I thought it was a pretty cool thing. I mean, I could see why it would kind of be hazardous at times when tortillas are thrown and someone has to pick them up. But I thought it was a pretty cool tradition.
Q. Considering you've been at Oregon for multiple years, a lot of guys have gone and transferred, have you ever been approached to transfer or get in the portal? What's your thoughts on that?
BRYCE BOETTCHER: Yeah, I mean, it's definitely a new age of college football. I think everyone has their reason to do something, whether that's family, personal, something with where they're at.
Obviously I grew up in Eugene. I've been a Duck fan for my entire life, so entering the portal never really crossed my mind. I have a lot of teammates that have came into our program and made a huge impact out of the portal and have also been great teammates, so I'm not going to say I don't like the portal or whatnot. I definitely think there's some negative aspects of it, transferring a whole lot and culture being a hard thing to come by nowadays. But yeah, there's pros and cons for sure.
