Quick Quotes

Q. Welcome Steve ask Izzi, we just want to start with it's a whole family affair out here. How does it feel just having your whole family supporting and just kind of there to support and you give you advice?

IZZI STRICKER: It's very calming to me knowing that they all have my back. It's nerve-wracking for me to be out here. I'm not used to this type of stage and people. To have my mom -- my mom is on my bag -- to have her right there with me, she is super calm and zen and calms me down. To have her and my sister out there is very fun.

Q. You guys went out and 29 on the front. What helped you set the tone early?

STEVE STRICKER: Well, our goal was to get off to a fast start; then we missed a pretty makable putt for birdie at No. 1, which always isn't ideal, but then we followed it up with I think five or six in a row.

So that got us going. We made some good putts in there. Hit some nice shots in there. Just kept going. Couple hiccups on the back side, but overall it was a good day.

It was a day where it could have been a few shots lower but we also did some good things, too.

Q. And how did you strategize going into today and playing off each other?

IZZI STRICKER: I think me being up a tee I put him in a wedge club and I trust him with a wedge always, so just getting as close as possible.

And, yeah, I think our short game was pretty good. I think that's what got I was in a lot of holes to make a putt, so worked well.

Q. For the family, so what is so cool about being on the bag for you guys and watching them?

NICKI STRICKER: Yeah, it's just cool to spend time and, yeah, we scramble, so you're walking to the ball. We're all -- yeah, it's just a team effort honestly. We have a lot of fun. We love the game. It's been really fun.

Q. What was the best shot you guys hit today? What do you consider your best hole and why? A lot to chose from I realize.

STEVE STRICKER: I think Izzi's couple shots with some pins that were all the way in the back. I think the one that stood out the most to me was -- and it's a difficult hole, it's No. 15 coming in. She had -- I think we had 156 to the hole back into a slight little breeze, not blowing all that hard. She blew a 6-iron all the way back there in the first cut and then we end up making the putt.

That's a hole if you can make a birdie feel like you pick up maybe a half shot on the field. So it wasn't as difficult as it has been in other years, but still difficult.

Q. How do you best describe the vibe here? I know it's a fun week, but you still have a card in your hand. You're still trying, still competing. How do you find the balance of all that?

STEVE STRICKER: Yeah, it's a lot of fun. First of all, we come in here wanting to play well, wanting to try to have that opportunity to win tomorrow, especially the last few holes. That's definitely our goal, to get that opportunity.

But it's also relaxing. It's a lot of fun. It's not as nerve-wracking for me, but it's fun to be with them and have a good time with it.

Q. Nicki, we talked to Izzi a little bit about the four-ball experience. Hoping to hear your perspective of the big win?

NICKI STRICKER: It was fun, I mean, just to be able to play with her. I happened to, you know, have a few good holes in there, and where I didn't, she was right there. So it was, again, just always fun to play with any and all of them.

Q. How have you seen Izzi's game develop in the past year?

NICKI STRICKER: I just think more consistent ball striking. Actually, that and just she spent a lot of time on her putting. Not that it wasn't good, but knowing she could be better. So it's good fun to see kind of a little bit of a transformation there.

Yeah, she made some putts today. Hit a lot of good putts. Fun to watch that, too.

Q. When you guys have dinner tonight will you talk about something other than golf? If so, what?

NICKI STRICKER: At some point, yes. I'm sure there will be golf in it as well.

Q. Steve, what an extraordinary golf family. What does it mean to you to be able to celebrate on the golf course with these powerful women?

STEVE STRICKER: Yeah, again, we have so much fun with it. It's fun to watch all their games develop, you know, each and every year. I mean, we got two of them that are aspiring -- I think Izzi will probably try to play professionally, too, the way she's going. Bobbi is doing that now. It's fun to see their work ethic.

Nobody works harder than Nicki. She works the hardest and is probably the most competitive out of all of us. It's fun to see her try to get better, too. She continues to work at it and the girls see that and they adopt that work ethic and see the desire that she has.

Yeah, it's a good atmosphere for all of us to be in.

Q. Has it always been the four of you at this event every year? So who picks each other up and maybe who spurs each other on?

UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: Nicki.

NICKI STRICKER: No, I think we all do. There is an excitement level that, again, even for Bobbi and I just to be out there, we're not hitting the shots, but definitely feeling like we're a part of it.

Yeah, I think we all do a great job of knowing when things need to be said or not or high five, yeah, just hug, anything.

Q. I don't want to put anybody on the spot or cause any problems here, but for Izzi and Bobbi, curious tonight, Bears Packers, who you pulling for.

GIRLS: Oh, gosh, Packers.

Q. Steve?

STEVE STRICKER: Bears.
