AL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: MARINERS VS BLUE JAYS

October 20, 2025

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Rogers Centre

Toronto Blue Jays

Postgame 7 Press Conference

Blue Jays - 4, Mariners - 3

Q. What was your reaction when you saw George Springer hit the three-run home run?

VLADIMIR GUERRERO JR.: I mean, it was very emotional when I saw George hit the homer, but the greater thing that I did is right before that inning, went down to the tunnel, get down on my knees, and I asked God for the win, to bless us, and he did, and then George hit the homer. So it was great.

Q. Have you told George that you did that?

VLADIMIR GUERRERO JR.: Not yet, not yet, but I will.

Q. How does it feel to be the ALCS MVP? What's that honor mean to you?

VLADIMIR GUERRERO JR.: Super. I mean, I feel great, very proud of this, even more that I'm going to the World Series.

Q. In that World Series, you're going to play the Dodgers, defending champs. They've got the biggest payroll in baseball, big reputation. What do you make of that matchup? Is that the type of matchup that sort of drives you to succeed?

VLADIMIR GUERRERO JR.: I mean, for me, every game is a challenge, every series is a challenge. I know they have great players. So do we. But on the field it's when everything matters.

Q. For the series, there's been a lot of talk about don't get too high, don't get too low, it's just another game. How hard is it to keep that mindset when you're a couple of outs away from going home, and then all of a sudden you're leading?

VLADIMIR GUERRERO JR.: I mean, when you have faith in God, things happen. I mean, when you visualize that, things happen. And that's what I did. I visualized it, that I was going to be where I'm at right now, and this happened.

Q. Can you talk a little bit about the importance of the crowd here at Rogers Centre not just tonight, but throughout the postseason. And how meaningful is it to play in Canada for you and to be going to the World Series on Canada's team?

VLADIMIR GUERRERO JR.: I was born here. I grew up in the Dominican, and then from the moment that I signed here, that I knew I was going to be here my entire career, I knew I had to make -- somehow to make all the fans, the entire country, proud of me, of my team. And like I always say, my challenge is to bring the World Series here back to Canada.

Q. To play for an entire country, is there ever pressure with that, do you ever feel pressure, or is it something different that you feel when you have so many fans looking to you?

VLADIMIR GUERRERO JR.: I mean, no pressure, no pressure at all. I mean, my father taught me that since -- it's a dream come true to be here, right? So when you have a country -- that you know you represent a country, you want to give everything you have for your country. I mean, you feel proud of it. You feel very proud of it, and you want to continue.

Q. You had Kevin Gausman and Chris Bassitt come out of the bullpen -- I see you're already smiling. What's it mean to this team to have two guys who are normally starting pitchers pitch relief in such a crucial game?

VLADIMIR GUERRERO JR.: First of all, I love this team, I love my teammates. When you see guys like Bassitt and Gausman, I mean, you know every time they take the field they give you all they have, that motivates myself to do anything, to win every game that I am capable to do. Like, tonight when I saw those guys coming in from the bullpen, it was a huge lift, unbelievable.
