AL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: MARINERS VS BLUE JAYS

October 19, 2025

Trey Yesavage

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Rogers Centre

Toronto Blue Jays

Postgame 6 Press Conference

Blue Jays - 6, Mariners - 2

Q. I'm curious what you made of the atmosphere out there and what it was like pitching in front of the fans?

TREY YESAVAGE: This was the most electric, energized crowd I've ever played in front of before, and the team rallied behind the fans, and they were a huge motivation for us.

Q. When you compare this to earlier in the series, what felt different for you, what worked better for you when you compare those?

TREY YESAVAGE: I was getting my stuff in the box early, getting ahead of batters and letting my defense work. Getting three double plays in back-to-back-to-back innings to get out of two bases loaded jams, that is huge, and I knew my defense had my back.

Q. We didn't know you as big double play guy until this one. Can you walk us through that first one with Vlady and Andrés?

TREY YESAVAGE: I saw the ball was smoked over to Vlady, so I knew I had to get my butt over there. And I had no idea where the bag was, and I just thank the lord that he put me right on top of it, and the throw was right on the target too.

Q. What are your thoughts on Vlady's performance so far this postseason and what he has been able to do for your guys' offense?

TREY YESAVAGE: He's one of the many reasons we're heading to Game 7 right now. He's a game-changer in our lineup. He's an is spark plug to the rest of the eight guys in the lineup, and then on defense, he's spectacular. So having a guy like this in this clubhouse is one of the many reasons we are here right now.

Q. You talk about the clubhouse. What's the sentiment right now as you head into a Game 7 tomorrow?

TREY YESAVAGE: Everybody's excited. Everybody knows that we can be ourselves. Shane Bieber's going to go out there and give us everything he has, and then we're going to let our defense work, offense do its job, and then got a fresh bullpen for tomorrow, which is huge.

Q. You spoke about the crowd and how electric it was. How did you deal with that in the first inning when the place was really buzzing like it was?

TREY YESAVAGE: It wasn't really how I had to deal with it. It was how I could use it to my advantage. They had me fired up, had me wanting to go out there and punch out the side, but was able to get off in the first inning perfect, which is a first for this postseason, so being able to do that is massive.

Q. The oldest guy on the team won a game, now the youngest guy. What does that say about this team and this month?

TREY YESAVAGE: It doesn't matter who it is, everyone's going to go out there and put their best foot forward. This is playoff baseball, this is what these guys have worked so hard for all season. So getting to this point and forcing a Game 7 with everybody's effort, everybody's opportunity to shine is a real testament to how close and how tight knit this team is.
