AL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: MARINERS VS BLUE JAYS

October 19, 2025

Eduardo Bazardo

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Rogers Centre

Seattle Mariners

Pregame 6 Press Conference

Q. You're kind of always getting loose in a game early, even though it looks like sometimes they haven't told you to get loose. Is that just you always wanting to be ready, or does it take you a kind of a long time to get going?

EDUARDO BAZARDO: No, that is, like, my routine. I like to prepare myself for if something happen, injury or something like that, and I'm just getting ready. When they call, I'm going to be like -- sometimes it's going to be fast, and I'm loose and getting ready to go in the game.

Q. Talking about your shirt and why you think that, and give me your best pitch for why you think that he's the MVP?

EDUARDO BAZARDO: This guy had an amazing year. He got like four years in the big league, but that is the most impressive this year. And the guy's the MVP because he made 60 homers, and that's going to be hard, and this guy working every day to try to do it. And he does his best every day working to do that. And that he made that this year, like that is amazing what he do this year, for me.

Q. When you're in a roller coaster series like this, how long do you think momentum lasts? Is it a few innings, a single game, or can it go from the other night to tonight?

EDUARDO BAZARDO: For me, like every game represents like how important it's going to be this. Today, for us, it's the most important because we are one game left to go to the World Series. That is the most important thing, to try to go out to do the job and that's what we try to do.

Q. You pitched in all five games of the Tigers series, as expected, I'm sure. What have you learned about the workload demands of pitching in the postseason, being ready every single day?

EDUARDO BAZARDO: Yeah, the most important is going to be like I try to throw not too many pitches, like, try to be fresh for the next couple days. It's going to be more experience for me. Like, next year we try to go to the playoffs, I understand how that works, and that is, like, for me it was perfect because it was my first time postseason and it helped me to get more speed in the postseason too.

Q. You've been in the game for a while now. This is a real breakout year for you. What have you been able to discover or do this year, what have the Mariners helped you to do to have this kind of season?

EDUARDO BAZARDO: The opportunity what they give to me this year, that helped me to be consistent, and like that helped me to get a good year. Because I never go back to the minor league, and I stay like all year here. That put me like in a good situation to be consistent. And they use me in a lot of spots and I learn about that. Like I get ready to throw in tie game or opening Game 2, and doesn't matter if the game style open, I'm going to be there like loose to try to get to the win.

Q. Is there any kind of pitch that you use more now or style?

EDUARDO BAZARDO: No, I just work it the same with my sinker and slider. And, yeah, I try to attack zone, attack the hitter, that help me to make the inning quick.

Q. Can you talk about your experience in the Venezuelan winter league, and how that has maybe helped to prepare you for success in the Major Leagues?

EDUARDO BAZARDO: Yeah, that's, winter ball helped me like when I came back to USA loose and ready to go. Because when I get, like I didn't throw for a long time, my shoulder getting tightness, and I need to start to like, start again to getting loose and everything, and that's why I played winter ball. Winter ball helped me a lot too to get ready for USA.
