Quick Quotes

Q. Talk about your feelings towards the flat stick, especially on the back nine.

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: It was a shame because my pace was pretty rubbish all day, but then I felt like I had holed out so well up until -- I made really good putts on -- that's the thing, you're supposed to hole them, but like 2, 3, and then first putts on 6 and 7, they had so much to do -- 8 was the same, 9 was the same, up-and-down on 10, make a really good putt for par on 12. So I did so much well.

Then when I did give myself a chance to score, I missed a couple. Yeah, that was frustrating. I'm glad that I finished with a birdie there. I thought I might have actually chipped it in. Glad I didn't have to hole a short one after the way and I could move on from that.

Yeah, disappointing, but 72 holes. I had a five-hole stretch where I didn't putt very well. I'll try and fix it now and then we'll go again tomorrow.

Q. In terms of mindset ahead of tomorrow, how do you respond?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I'll practise now. I'll just go through a few routines, hit some balls. I felt like I played okay. I hit actually a really good putt on 16. 14 actually started right, and then again, started it a little bit right on 17 and then you've got like slope and grain that's killing it, so once it started right -- the one on 16 was really good, it just broke a lot.

I'm not going to, like, be really negative about it. I know that I've got to do a bit of work on it, but practise now, go into tomorrow with a good attitude, and hopefully I can build some confidence and roll some in.

Q. There was a ton of good stuff out there today. What are you most looking forward to ahead of tomorrow and how are you going to approach that final round?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I've done so much good so far, like you say. I felt like there was a good stretch, even though I felt like I was holing putts for par, I felt like I was playing really, really well through the front nine. Felt really controlled, felt like I was playing great, and outside of the back end there, played lovely.

Focus on that really good stuff and know that if I play like that, I've got a really good chance of scoring and shooting a good round. Two behind is kind of close enough where I'm still in control of it a little bit. Keita is not far enough ahead where he's completely in control. Just go into tomorrow, enjoy it. Final group is always great. You've got to enjoy those moments. You don't know when they're going to come again. Looking forward to that. It's been a great tournament. Just hopefully go out and enjoy it and play well.

Q. What would it mean to you to get another DP World Tour win and to win here in India?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: It's always the best, isn't it. That's what we practise for, that's what we play for, chances to win and that feeling walking off the 18th green when you have one. I've still got things I want to achieve this year and in my career, and this would be a great one. Yeah, looking forward to that opportunity. I really am. It's nice to be playing well. Again, never take it for granted. Continue to work hard and enjoy these moments, and come out and give it my best shot tomorrow.

Q. Great round today. Outside of that unfortunate three-putt on the 17th for a bogey, very solid, good shot making from you. You're two back going into Sunday. What's the plan for tomorrow?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, I feel like I had the opportunity to be two or three back coming down the stretch on the back nine and I missed a couple of putts, but at the same time you have to stick in there. I just said, it's a 72-hole tournament. I had a four-hole stretch where I missed some short putts, but other than that it's been really good so far. I've played a lot of good golf.

I felt like I struggled with my pace a little bit today, so it felt like it was never really very stress free. I was playing great, but I was constantly trying to hole out for pars, and when I had the chance to score, I didn't score. But birdie on the last always makes the dinner feel better.

Looking forward to tomorrow. There's been a lot of good enough, and hopefully more to come.

Q. An out-and-out aggressive round tomorrow, or is it a choice down the stretch?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I just don't think the course allows you to be that aggressive. I think the pins again today were pretty tucked. I felt like the pins yesterday were a bit easier to get to.

So yeah, you just have to keep playing the course how it allows you to play. I think the two courses are worlds apart, but I feel like Augusta is very similar in that you can only hit the shot that the course gives you, and I feel like this is very similar, and I think there's a few courses around the world that do that. So it just stops you from being aggressive. You have to play the right shots at the right time, and if you have a wedge in your hand you're going to have to try and be a bit more aggressive and take it on a little bit.

You have to be very disciplined still and try to get the best out of the round tomorrow.

Q. I was just wondering, there is home pressure and things like that, but is there any pressure when you are playing your sponsor's tournament? Going into the final round, in position like this, will that ever be a thought in your mind?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Well, I think I'm lucky, again, DP World are an amazing partner where they would never put pressure on you in terms of your performances. I try to be the best ambassador I can possibly be both on and off the golf course. Off the golf course is a huge part. On the golf course is another huge part. So you split them.

I think I'm very proud that I've had the chance to come here as part of DP World and I'm proud that I've -- I continue to put a lot of work in, and I'm really pleased that I've been able to compete this week and find myself at the top end of the leaderboard. Hopefully they're happy with me. I'm really enjoying it. They've put on an amazing event.

For all of us players, whether ambassador or not an ambassador, I think we've all really enjoyed playing here this week.

Q. On most of the holes your son was simulating the shots even before you were making them. Before you made the shot, he was simulating the same thing, pumping his fist, probably imagining that you were making the putt. What's going on there?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: I try not to focus on it too much. He's my biggest supporter, and yeah, my family are my biggest source of motivation and inspiration if you like. They give me that, so I love having them here to support. It's amazing watching Frankie grow up and how into the golf he is, how biased he is. There's a lot of players out there that he really likes but he's very biased towards his dad, so I'm very pleased with that.

It's cool seeing him. The thing is when you see him -- I missed a couple putts toward the end, and I could see his emotions going, as well, so I'm trying to control my own. Honestly, it's great, and like I say, my family are such a motivation to me and inspiration, so having him around and having Frankie growing up and being so into it is really cool for me.

Q. Considering Nakajima and Lowry are both in contention, is there anything you'll look out for on that front to get under 20-under possibly to win this tournament?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: No, I think I never really have numbers in my mind of what to post. I'll really sort of try and stay as present as possible, control my emotions, control my thoughts and control my golf ball really. That's all I can do. Obviously whatever they do is down to them.

I'm looking forward to the challenge. Again, it's great to have some amazing players up there in contention. Whenever you get to this stage of the tournament, the guys that are around you with a chance of winning are playing great golf, so you know they're going to play well.

Really for me, I know what I want the outcome to be tomorrow, but I also know there's 18 holes ahead, and every single shot has an element of stress to it around this golf course. So you really have to stay disciplined, stay in the present and just see what I can get out of it.

Q. You have a fleet of fans following you. Can you call it "Tommy's Fleet"?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: We can do if you'd like. Yeah, the fans have been amazing. Again, another part of the world where I feel really blessed and really grateful to have the support and the connection with the people that I've had this week, and it's been an absolute pleasure and honour to play in front of the people and bring golf and a huge tournament to India and the Indian people. Really excited about tomorrow, and I think there's a bright future ahead of everyone.
