BMW LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP

October 18, 2025

Eun Hee Ji

Busan, South Korea

Pine Beach Golf Links

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: We are joined here by Eun Hee Ji.

Q. Looking back on time in the LPGA tournaments, what has changed and what do you remember from the past? For example in the past there was a junior, senior culture with the Korean players. Do you think we still have that? What changed the most, do you think?

EUN HEE JI: Yes, so first at the beginning when I joined the tournament, not many Korean players were playing in the States and I could focus more on play now. Now we have obviously have many more Korean players. The players tend to get together and eat out together and it's great bonding.

THE MODERATOR: Why did you choose to retire at this event? What's so special about this event for you?

EUN HEE JI: I was actually going to retire after the Walmart event but I got contacted by LPGA Korea and BMW, and they approached me first to ask me whether I would like to retire at this event, which I thought was a great opportunity and I greatly appreciated their offer. So I really use this opportunity to make this occasion.

Q. So why did you want to make a retirement without many people knowing, and what are your plans after retirement?

EUN HEE JI: So there isn't any reason for that. I mean, I didn't want to get any spotlight on my retirement, but now I appreciate very much. Regarding my plan, I don't have much yet. I've been on the LPGA 19 years, more than 20 years without having much break. So I would like to take a break.

Q. I'm sure a lot of feelings are happening inside you. You've had an amazing record, six victories, and I'm sure every event was memorable and precious, but is there anything you remember in particular?

EUN HEE JI: So I had two events that I particularly remember. Of course, the first one is my U.S. Open victory. I was able to win that event with my last putt at the last hole, so that was really memorable.

The second one was a match-play that I won, because of that victory I was able to compete in the U.S. Open. So those two are very memorable.

Q. Could you share some values that you have when you play golf? You several times mentioned having patience. Can you elaborate on that?

EUN HEE JI: Yes, it's a difficult question but definitely patience is a prime value that I think we all need to have to play for a long time, and I think I try to stay very positive. Also I became positive myself by playing golf.

Of course there were moments and things are going well, you can get a lot of stress but I think I was the kind of person to always take on the challenge.

Q. We have many Korean players starting on the KLPGA and joining the LPGA. Do you have any advice or comments that you would like to give to those junior players mentally and technically?

EUN HEE JI: Yes, I think young players now have a great kind of physical state, as in they have great distances. So I think their overall competences have definitely gotten better.

Now there are a lot different courses, so maybe a lot of practice or short games and just have more techniques to be prepared and practice to try those new courses.

THE MODERATOR: There were several family and friends waiting for you today. What has their support meant to you throughout your career and specifically this week?

EUN HEE JI: Yes, so I had a lot of fans and family members here. So there were many fans who are here and have supported me and gave me a lot of energy. I think they want me to play more but I think it is time for me to show another side of me for a new chapter.

THE MODERATOR: I have one more question, too, as we approach tomorrow's round, your final round before your retirement, what kind of mindset will you take into that round and what will you try to think of and remember?

EUN HEE JI: So the shots this week have gone pretty well. I think it's because I have no pressure and I'm trying to enjoy as much as I can. So I'm just trying to continue that and really finish a good round.
