Quick Quotes

Q. Here after the second round of the BMW Ladies Championship, two back-to-back awesome days. Can you just speak to how you're playing right now?

BROOKE MATTHEWS: Yeah, it's kind of funny, I didn't feel very comfortable coming into this week, playing China last week, didn't really have my best stuff. Even Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday was feeling a little eh but made me go out there and play it shot-by-shot, lower expectations and I feel like I just managed it really well. Just kind of stayed in the moment.

Yeah, ended up making some putts and racking up some good scores.

Q. I was saying, too it, it's your lowest round on the LPGA. Were you aware of that as you were going today? I think you birdied the last two and I think your best was 66. So were you aware?

BROOKE MATTHEWS: I was, it weren't something I was super chasing or anything. Obviously if it happened, great, but if not, it wasn't like, oh, my God.

It's exciting and always good to kind of do that at the end of the season and keep trending.

Q. What do you think you've been working on, especially heading into this last push? I don't remember how many you're doing in this stretch but what does that mean to you to see some results like this?

BROOKE MATTHEWS: Yeah, I'm playing this one and then I'm going to go home and play ANNIKA. It's been great. Been working hard all year. I think we can see the finish line at this point.

So I'm happy to get a couple good rounds. I don't know what's going to happen this weekend but we'll do our best. It's all we can kind of control.

Q. Anything in your game, too, that you feel like you've been working really hard on that's shown up the past two days?

BROOKE MATTHEWS: I feel like the putter has been the difference-maker. I feel like I've had a lot of good looks, kind of all year but definitely nice to see some go in.

Q. How would you describe the greens out here, compared to anything you've seen in the past?

BROOKE MATTHEWS: Yeah, the greens are good. I feel like they are soft enough that if you're hitting out of the fairway you can kind of stuff some in there but they are rolling pretty great and true. If you pick your line and hit it, you're going to have a good chance.

Q. And I've seen, too, with some of these greens, there's packets off to the side. How do you go about doing that? Obviously the hole location is probably very dependent on where you land it.

BROOKE MATTHEWS: For sure. It takes a little strategy getting on the right side of the hole, can pay dividends. You can use the slopes to get the balls a little bit closer, too.

But also, at the same time, not going for anything too glorious; it really doesn't help you out here. Just place it along and try to make some putts.

Q. Heading into today, there was a lot of gusts on the practice range and stuff like that. What were you thinking going into today?

BROOKE MATTHEWS: Yeah, we've played in wind all year, what's different today. I feel like when we got out there it wasn't quite as bad as everyone thought it was going to be. You kind of go one shot at a time. There's not really much you can do, so don't let it spook you too much.

Q. Can you speak to the finishing holes, just to get an idea, especially down the stretch on Sunday, how things are going to look? They seem to be tough with the ocean all right there?

BROOKE MATTHEWS: Definitely wind dependent. They were downwind yesterday, so it made it a little bit easier. Had some driver, wedges today with that wind blowing towards the water kind of hurting. You definitely wanted to start it a little further left and protect the ball.

But great finishing holes. Three great finishing holes, you can get a birdie on 17 and 16 and 18, you just get it out there, and 15, too.

Q. I was on the first tee when you teed off. There's a lot of fans out here cheering for every shot, it seems like, too. What are your thoughts on the fans here in Korea?

BROOKE MATTHEWS: It's cool to see all the support here in Korea. We only get to play here once a year. I know International Crown is here next week but I'm not playing in that. It's really cool to see the fans come out and just be excited about the tournament.
