A. RINDERKNECH/D. Medvedev
4-6, 6-2, 6-4
Q. From the fiction, to science fiction, to fantasy, to some genre we don't know yet. Can you please help us find a title for this incredible story?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: The dream undreamable. Is that okay? It was undreamable. Even in the biggest dream we couldn't have dreamt about this. So it's a dream that couldn't even exist at the beginning. I don't even know where it comes from, how it happened. I guess we must have done some good thing to, you know, to the people around us, to deserve to experience something like this, because it's incredible, yes.
Q. This is your first ATP Finals in your career, how do you feel?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: Great. Thank you very much. Next question, please.
Q. That was an immense battle. One of those games was 17 minutes long almost. Can you just take us through your mentality through that.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: I lost the first set. In the night, the conditions are a lot slower, the ball is not going anywhere. I just couldn't go past Medvedev. He was defending really well. I couldn't, the ball wasn't going really fast.
I lost first set. I was getting tired with this humidity of the night. I was like, Okay, I'm just going to fight, try to make him tired at least for Valentin tomorrow, so that he's going to be physically a little bit more tired than Val. I tried to help him out already today if I lose.
Then somehow I broke him. Then I went into the third set and, you know, nobody know what can happen. I found a way somehow.
Q. The only official match that I could find against Valentin was the ITF France in 2018. I'm just wondering if you had any memory of that, or if you have memories about any practice or unofficial match with him.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: We hit together thousands of times at Texas A & M. When we were 10 years old, 12 years old, 14 years old. We've played many, many hours of tennis together.
Q. You played that futures event in 2018, in France. 6-2, 6-4 you won in the quarterfinal. I'm sure you guys were low ranked, but now who would have ever thought you would be playing here.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: Doesn't matter. Tomorrow there will be two winners anyway. Tomorrow night there will be two winners anyway. There's going to be a match, of course, but today we won everything. We couldn't win any more, you know. We won everything. Tomorrow between us, that's all that matters. Thank you very much.
