A. RINDERKNECH/F. Auger-Aliassime
6-3, 6-4
Q. Another impressive performance. Never broken. You had the three break points in that one game, but other than that you were holding quite easily.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: Yeah, it's a solid match today on my side. Felix is playing really well lately. He's such a tough opponent. He was serving really well. So, yeah, really happy to win in two sets as well, and get to recover before tomorrow.
Q. Talk about just the win overall, just now into your first Masters 1000 semifinal.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: Yes, of course it's great. Of course it's great. I'm just trying one more time to follow Val, you know. Yesterday I was watching him. I was really stressed watching him. Today was a lot less stressful for me to be playing on court actually. I'm not used to be watching someone and really wanting him to win so bad. Yeah, it was a lot easier for me to be on court today, and just control my emotions and do my own thing that I know how to do, and trying to handle it the best I can. With my family here in the box also it was cool.
Q. How's your family WhatsApp group doing?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: WhatsApp? It's just burning right now. Burning because everybody is just living the little dream we are in, Val and I. So, yeah, it's really enjoyable. I try to enjoy every moment.
Q. After in New York you did great. In Beijing with de Minaur you played an amazing match, it was pretty close. So it's something that coming here you were expecting like maybe big results could come maybe here or in next month?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: No, I just try to do my own thing with my team, the ones that really help me daily. Most of them are at home this week actually, but we're still working through the phone. Yeah, it's just a matter of trying to do what I need to do, and then we'll see what the results are at the end of the day. That's all I'm trying to think.
Q. What's happening with you and Valentin, this could be also massive for maybe a lot of guys that maybe are trying with the college tennis.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: Yes, of course. I've always said it, you know, if you're not in the top ranking of junior, in juniors, I think it's probably one of the best options. We were really lucky to be really well coached and taught at Texas A & M with Steve Denton. Yeah, we both got this education from him. We're lucky that we had him on our path, you know. Today it shows that we are capable of playing with the best in the world.
Q. Steve's been getting up about 3:00 in the morning back in College Station watching you guys.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: Yes.
Q. He's so pumped up. Just talk about having the support back in College Station.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: He texted me yesterday, it was like, I'm really happy because I'm going to get to wake up at 3:00 a.m. one more time and watch you guys. So it was quite funny.
Q. You made very big progress this year. How did you make it?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: I don't know. You know, I tried to change a few things. I changed my coaching staff. For sure we made some adjustments and worked on some different things. And, you know, also the old things also here and there. A little bit of the mentality as well, we just try to make improvements. Happy that it works out so far.
Q. Do you think that there's anything special about this tournament or the court or the city that brings out your best tennis?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: The tournament is fabulous. China, Chinese people, we were talking about it with my friend here this week almost every day, how much passionate you guys are. It's really enjoyable to be here in an environment with passionate people about tennis. Because we all, I mean, we as players share this passion with you guys about tennis. We love it.
Yeah, it's great. Every time, every day I'm signing pictures of myself that I've never seen before, but they're all more incredible the one than another. Yeah, it's really cool to be here. For sure it's going to be some of my best memories in my career.
It's not over yet. Yeah, we'll be looking forward to this particular time of the year every year from now on, yes.
Q. Any more thoughts about your two potential opponents in the semifinals?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: No, no. Two amazing players. So good each, both of them are so good. I wish them both good luck.
Q. You're breaking into the top 40 for the first time.
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: I don't look at the ranking. I don't really care. I'm focusing on my game, and that's all that the matters as of right now.
Q. So you're going to watch the match tonight?
ARTHUR RINDERKNECH: Not sure. Not sure. I will follow the score, see who wins, and then we'll discuss with my coach.
