WNBA FINALS: LAS VEGAS VS. PHOENIX

October 10, 2025

Mark Davis

Las Vegas Aces

Game 4: Postgame

Aces 97, Mercury 86

Q. Do you think it's time to make Becky Hammon on the highest paid coach in the WNBA?

MARK DAVIS: Oh, she's not?

Q. You tell me.

MARK DAVIS: Well, you ask her. Becky's unbelievable. Nikki Vargas is unbelievable. The two of them, what they put together this year after a rough start is something I've never seen before.

I don't really know where to put it in historic senses, but I think there will be stories written about it in some time.

Q. I was wondering if you could talk about the dynasty factor of your franchise and what it means to you to watch what they've done, winning three championships in the last four years.

MARK DAVIS: Putting titles on wins and things like that, I think is up to you guys to do. I don't think it's for me because I'm too close to it. But what they've accomplished in winning three titles in four years is truly amazing.

But as I asked them just a while ago, can you do it again?

Q. I'm just wondering about Vegas being the dynasty of the WNBA and speculation of possible expansion with the NBA going there, is Vegas now officially a basketball town?

MARK DAVIS: I think it always had been. I remember back in the days when I was living in the Bay Area and Jerry Tarkanian and that basketball team, I think they captured the imagination of the country.

Basketball with the Summer League and everything else coming there, it holds its own. I think it's a great basketball market.

Q. You just said that you asked them if they can do it again. How concerned are you about the CBA negotiations, and what do you want to see happen?

MARK DAVIS: The last time I spoke about things like that, I got fined. I think it's better if I don't say anything, but I think they'll work it out somehow, I hope. I haven't been consulted, and I think it's -- again, you know what side of the table I'd probably be sitting on.

We'll get it right. I don't think that there's two sides to this. If we look at it as togetherness and trying to make the future better, I think that's what we need to do. So we'll see if that works.
