THE MODERATOR: Questions.
Q. Amanda was very aggressive on court...
COCO GAUFF: She played well. I felt like I couldn't really have a chance of getting a rhythm out there.
But a learning experience for the next time.
Q. You have a lot of fans in Beijing. They all want to know if you want to come back to this tournament next year and play your best tennis.
COCO GAUFF: Yeah, for sure. If I'm not injured, I'll definitely come back. I've had and have had great times here. Obviously today wasn't my day. But I'm looking forward to next year.
Q. Amanda is one of those players, when she's grooving, it's tough. Where do you rate her in terms of that type of style of play?
COCO GAUFF: I mean, she's definitely one of the best out of those I've played. Yeah, for sure her and Aryna are tough when they're playing that level of tennis. I felt like today, no matter what I did, I just couldn't get into the match.
So yeah, I'm going to take this and learn from it.
Q. In terms of the kind of recapping the week in general, what were the positives that you take on to Wuhan and what are the things you zone in on a little bit, if you're working on anything right now?
COCO GAUFF: Yeah, no, there's a lot of positives to take. I think not having like that great of a hard court swing pre US Open, definitely gave me some confidence winning a few matches, some tough matches.
Yeah, I mean, today I would like to perform better. I know I need to step up my game when playing top players like Amanda. That's something I need to work on for next year especially.
Q. Obviously going into Wuhan, a one-week 1000, how much of a different challenge does that make it? How are you feeling physically?
COCO GAUFF: Yeah, no, I'm physically great. I'm happy, looking forward to playing a one-week 1000. I kind of miss playing them. I was thinking, like today I woke up and felt like it was so long since my last match.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to that, playing in that format. Last year I quite enjoyed it, even though I was going into the tournament tired just from winning here. But I think it helped having to play back to back.
Q. Your final thoughts on China Open 2025 for you and what your experience was like...
COCO GAUFF: Yeah, overall a positive tournament. I had a great time here on and off the court. Yeah, disappointing. I felt pretty good going out there today. I don't know, I was practicing great. I just went on court and she completely took over.
So yeah, I think there's a lot of learning experiences. I know what I need to do against players like her in the future. Now it's all about going back to practice and trying to implement those things.
