Quick Quotes
Q. All right, joining me today after the third round of the LOTTE Championship is Megan Khang. You played really well today and you have found yourself solidly in contention. What are you going to look at tomorrow?
MEGAN KHANG: Hopefully like I said yesterday, short grass. Just find the fairways and greens a little bit. Left a few putts short today. Kind of in the heart, so it always hurts a little, but happy to kind of put together a solid round with the conditions that we had.
It's always fun playing with Nelly and Peiyun, so we all played pretty well I thought given the circumstances. It's definitely like a restart, but on for tomorrow.
Q. This is not a bad place to spend a week. Do you think that the environment of everything off the golf course this week is helping you at all?
MEGAN KHANG: Definitely. You know, I've been jokingly singing I'm an island girl this whole week. It's cool being here in Hawai'i. There's not really a bad spot on the island I would have to say. I know I've been kind of dragging Allisen Corpuz around. I know she's from here so she's probably tired of me making her go to some spots she probably went to her whole life, but that's what a good friend is for, and she's been a good sport.
Went to the farmer's market yesterday, grabbed a bite to eat; did the beach Sunday again. You know, just really kind of -- it's pretty easy to kind of take your mind off the golf once you leave the golf course just because there are so many things to do.
Q. You've had a great year all year. You've been pretty consistent. Do you want to talk a little bit about how you think you've been doing so well and so consistently well this year?
MEGAN KHANG: You know, I probably have to give a lot to kind of treating golf as something I do and not everything about me. I love competing, love being out here. At the same time, I can't be too mad about a bad day in the office. It's still just playing golf.
I feel like I do a relatively good job separating golf and I guess work and my free time. I think it's an ode to just how much ouch I love coffee, so it has me kind of chasing coffee shops around wherever we go.
It's a nice little niche I do week in and week out. So this week is a little harder because they're kind of only open the time we're on the golf course, so it's a little harder to find one after the rounds.
I think it's pretty cool that with the year that I've had, obviously trying to get the second win of my career. At the same time, it's not really everything and just really enjoying the ride and the journey instead of focusing on the end results.
And so with that, I just -- I think I'm just enjoying it a lot more.
Q. Do you think your ability to separate what happens on and off the course comes with the more seasons you've played on Tour or is that something you've always excelled ought?
MEGAN KHANG: I'll always tried do it. I've definitely gotten better as the years have gone on on Tour, I think just because there are so many weeks that we feel as though we're playing well and the putts aren't dropping.
It's hard to separate the two because obviously you can finish a round and look back on the ifs and buts, but at the same time, you can't really cry over spilled milk in a sense.
So for me it's just kind of I think with maturity it's come a long ways. Still a lot more maturing to do. At the same time, glad we are maturing eventually.
Q. Final question: What is your favorite food or drink in Hawai'i.
MEGAN KHANG: Funny enough, I don't really eat a ton of spam, but for some reason I love the spam musubi here. It's like the 7-Eleven, it's like two bucks. You can't beat it.
I heard like a rumor that all the 7-Elevens in Hawai'i are owned by Japan, so it's been really cool. It's not my normal golf course snack, but it's definitely been fun to kind of eat like a local to say the least. Probably not even a local thing. It's fine. I'm going to treat it like it is.
