Quick Quotes
Q. A 9-under par 63 here at Kingsbarns to start the Dunhill Links Championship. How pleased are you with your day's work?
DARIUS VAN DRIEL: Yeah, it's a little bit easier with the wind that's not as strong as I played here. So everybody is going low. And I just checked the scores, and a lot of guys went low today.
Yeah, it was nice to be out there, but a lot of golf left to play.
Q. Seven birdies around the turn. What can you attribute that to?
DARIUS VAN DRIEL: Can I say the sliders? No, it -- I was hitting it close, making some long putts. And it's like once you're on a roll, it just keeps you going. Unfortunately when the cameras came, the streak stopped. No, but I made one at the end, so it was nice.
Q. How patient did you have to be after the run? As you say, you made one at the end to come in. But was it a little bit of a waiting game out there?
DARIUS VAN DRIEL: It is a bit of a waiting game. I mean, playing four-balls with amateurs, breaks in between, so you know the rounds are going to long. Playing with Dean, he's a nice guy. I know him well, so we had a lot of talk to talk about. It was nice.
Q. When you say a lot of golf still to be played, you've got two different courses still to play before Sunday. How do you approach having to manage your game across three different courses across three days?
DARIUS VAN DRIEL: Well, yeah, I'm hitting them well. So I just got to take this game up to the next courses and go from there.
Tomorrow is St Andrews. I mean, if the weather is the same, you know you got to go low there. Carnoustie is probably the hardest of the three. But we'll see when we get there.
