Ewa Beach, Oahu, Hawaii, USA

Hoakalei Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, joining me today after the first round of the LOTTE Championship is Honorine. Can you just talk a little bit about your ties to Hawai'i and how it feels playing here?

HONORINE NOBUTA FERRY: Yeah, so I was -- I've lived here since I was four and this is where I started golf and went to school and everything, so I have a lot of good memories here.

It means a lot that last year was my first-ever LPGA event was this tournament here in Hawai'i, and this year I get to be back here and play. It's really an amazing experience.

Q. Are you getting any mentorship from any other Hawai'ian players in the field?

HONORINE NOBUTA FERRY: No. Just my dad.

Q. We'll have to make an introduction.

HONORINE NOBUTA FERRY: Yeah, for sure.

Q. One of five golfers from Hawai'i this year. Talk about just being in that group of five to represent The Islands.

HONORINE NOBUTA FERRY: Yeah, it feels really great. I'm really just grateful to have the opportunity to compete in this event this year. I didn't think I was going to be able to play again after getting the exemption last year as well, so just really grateful to be here, and it's an honor to be one of five.

Q. How do you feel like the round went in general?

HONORINE NOBUTA FERRY: Yeah, I felt like -- well, the back nine was a lot smoother than the front. I felt like I left a lot of shots out there. Missed three putts within five feet, so that's a little bit of a bummer.

Hopefully I can try to get some shots back tomorrow.

Q. Since you left Hawai'i, is it Texas?

HONORINE NOBUTA FERRY: Yeah, in Texas now.

Q. Where in Texas and is your goal to -- first college golf or...

HONORINE NOBUTA FERRY: Yeah, so I live in Dallas right now. I just moved there from Florida two -- a year and a half ago. I love it there a lot. It's very convenient. College I still have one more year before I can do any tours or camps or anything, so I haven't really thought about it much yet.

I know Texas is doing really well. Their team is doing very good this year. I was born in California so that's somewhere I would maybe be possibly looking too, but I'm completely open minded as of now.
