Quick Quotes

Q. You've had this Ryder Cup circled on the calendar since you were a little kid growing up in Westchester County. How would you describe your emotion delivering for your captain and your team?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, I've been thinking about having a putt like that for a while. The way things were going halfway through the back nine today, I didn't want that putt, and then the way things were going through 17, I was very grateful that I had a chance there.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that one for a while, and it felt good to see it go right in the middle?

Q. You're known as a bit of a stoic week-to-week on the PGA TOUR. Why is this hitting you so hard on this Sunday?

CAMERON YOUNG: A lot of reasons. This is the biggest event that we have really. There's no bigger stage to play on, in my home state, a golf course that I love. There's 11 other guys on this team that I was working really hard for, and Keegan has put so much into this, all the vice captains. There's a lot of people that have had so much to do with putting on this week, and I was just playing my hardest for all of them.

Q. Incredible putt to make birdie on 18 and earn the first point in Sunday singles for the Americans. How did you rise to the occasion on this final hole to make birdie?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, it's a putt that I've wanted to have for a long time, and frankly, I played pretty well on the back nine and made a bunch of pars and just didn't make the birdie putts, so eventually one had to go in, and thankful that I was given the opportunity.

Q. You're playing in your home state in your first Ryder Cup. What have you learned about yourself this week?

CAMERON YOUNG: Apparently Ryder Cups fire me up a little bit. I had the help of JT and Bryson over the last couple of days to bring some emotion out, but that one right there I'll remember for a long time.

Q. Leaderboards all around the course today. How did that fuel your performance today?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, there's 11 other guys on this team fighting until the end. We said we'd play to the whistle, and it looks like the guys are doing that now. It didn't look great early, but it feels like things are turning around a little bit, so we'll see what happens here at the end.
