Quick Quotes
Q. Many congratulations on a fantastic win, an incredibly tight match. There are always key moments, turning points in matches. You holed a putt at 17. Just describe that one for us because that was crucial.
VIKTOR HOVLAND: That was big. Hit a terrible 8-iron there to spin it back down the hill and left Bob in a tough spot there. But was glad I was able to contribute on that hole and at least secure half a point and obviously getting the job done on 18 was incredible. It was a great match all day.
Q. Your first Ryder Cup away from home and your first point. What's it like to play in this -- I can only call it hostile because it is hostile here.
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, difficult, especially when you get on this side of the road. But you know, we've got guys like this to back you up, the guys in the changing room, the support staff, family, friends, and our fans, as well.
Look, we are doing this for not just ourselves but for everyone who here. But yeah, just delighted to do it with this guy.
Q. When we chatted earlier in the week, you said you were fueled by the disappointment of Whistling Straits. You didn't win a full point there, and the team obviously lost heavily. How sweet is this moment for you personally?
VIKTOR HOVLAND: It's so good. Especially after Rome, it kind of went as good as it could have gone for our team. But we were very motivated to do the same over here. So far, we're doing the job, but there's still a long ways to go and we've just got to keep our foot down and keep playing well.
Q. That moment on 17 felt so significant, and you celebrated as if it was, as well.
VIKTOR HOVLAND: Yeah, that was pure instinct. I think I went black out there for a couple seconds. You understood how much it meant, and to make a putt and secure half a point and having a lead into 18, and yeah, it was so big. Obviously there's some blue on the board already so we wanted to have another point on there.
Q. In terms of the atmosphere, you showed real nerve. Unable to get that point yesterday but it must be really nice to be able to walk away, and it looked as if you enjoyed it, as well, the both of you.
ROBERT MacINTYRE: It's brilliant. We've known each other since we were young. Played against each other at times, as well. Look, to be able to play in these golf tournaments is special for the two of us. It's what dreams are made of. We've come here. We've got a job to do, and we're trying our best. You've got to enjoy yourself.
