WASHINGTON WIZARDS MEDIA CONFERENCE

November 7, 2025

Tre Johnson

Washington, DC, USA

Cavaliers 148, Wizards 114

Q. Your first start in the NBA; how did it feel to be out there?

TRE JOHNSON: It just felt great just being out there. Felt like really just coming off the bench, to be honest. Just with a different group.

Q. What have you thought about your first eight games in the NBA?

TRE JOHNSON: Just a lot of up and down. Physical, and really just preparing myself mentally and physically for the next one.

Q. What has that process been like for you, preparing yourself for the next game even after a difficult night?

TRE JOHNSON: I'd say the PT staff has been a great help, so I really don't have much thinking to do. It was really just focusing for the game. I'd say pregame is more harder for me than after the game.

Q. What was it like to see Jamir get the opportunity he got tonight?

TRE JOHNSON: It was great. It was great. Just seeing him out there, you know he's going to bring -- there's no guessing with him. You know he's going to bring defense all night, and he can put up points, too, so it was just great seeing him out there.

Q. What's he been doing behind the scenes in practice? Do you think this was a matter of him sort of earning this opportunity?

TRE JOHNSON: Yeah, you know the moment was going to come because he's going to bring defense, effort and rebounding so you kind of knew that, and he's done that in practice. Everybody on the bench, probably everybody in the arena knew what he was going to come out and do. He was going to come out and guard. He came right off the bench, no warm-up, sitting down, straight in and guarded Donovan, and did well on it.

Q. What can you learn from a team on the Cavs' level?

TRE JOHNSON: The way they offensive rebound, the way their guys was crashing, boxing out, and they kept going, so I feel like we can learn from that for sure.

Q. With other rookies putting up impressive performances early in the season, do you feel any pressure as a fellow rookie this year?

TRE JOHNSON: No, not even, I'm just more focused on winning games, trying to win games, building with my teammates. Not too pressured about what other guys got going.

Q. Tre, as much as BK talks about the development and focusing on the details for you all, when you look at a night like tonight, what is the biggest thing you can take into the first back-to-back for you all, especially it being at home and a team that you saw already this season?

TRE JOHNSON: Just trying to flush tonight's loss. Rewatch it, of course, but try to flush it because you've got one tomorrow. It's a team that's hungry. We got one at their place, so they're trying to do the same thing. We'll also just go rewatch that one I'd say.

Q. Early on and at media day you talked about your experience in the SEC and how they allowed anything to happen, especially with the physicality. How much do you look at the physicality here early on in the NBA of being a rookie and calls are not always going to go your way and you just have to head down and keep playing through it and eventually the officials will get to know you because you had a couple tough ones tonight.

TRE JOHNSON: Yeah, just try not to get into -- a little bit voice my opinion but not too much but still try to go on and move on to the next play, knowing that some calls aren't going to go my way, but just try to play through it and adjust to it.

Q. Tre, it's obviously a tough stretch of the season. How are you managing it and how are you feeling so far?

TRE JOHNSON: Just knowing we've got a lot more games left, more opportunity, and it can always change. We can also go on a run. So just looking forward to the next one.
