November 16, 2025

Henry Patten

Harri Heliovaara

Turin, Italy

Inalpi Arena,Torino

ATP Interview

PATTEN-HELIOVAARA/Salisbury-Skupski

7-5, 6-3

Q. How does it feel to come back here after last year?

HARRI HELIOVAARA: Feels pretty amazing. I've been in the semis twice. There's something good about Turin. I played this tournament three times: semis, semis, now win. I can't complain much. I love the conditions indoors. That's where I grew up in Finland obviously.

I feel like I found some good partner to play with me, as well. Have to thank Henry. We worked hard this year. We didn't have an easy year. We started well, but to finish like this, it's a dream come true.

Q. Henry, lifting the trophy at the end, have you had many weeks like this one (indiscernible)?

HENRY PATTEN: No, I've never been engaged before. I've lifted a few trophies, but not this one before. It's been pretty unique. Yeah, a great success.

Ellie will be very pleased we won. She was joking, You won your first tournament as an engaged man.

That's a good sign.

Q. I think you had eight break points today. How good a performance did that feel?

HENRY PATTEN: Yeah, obviously that's a great stat to have. As ever in doubles, you often generate break points and see them pass with an ace or you hit a good volley and it's just chopped off. It can be pretty heartbreaking when you see so many, and they can't go by.

But we responded really well in those situations, kept believing in ourselves, and finally, yeah, the pressure kind of paid off.

HARRI HELIOVAARA: Just to add, we did not face break points today. Our serves were not broken the whole week. That is something incredible. Playing with the no-ad system, it's quite easy to lose four out of seven points. That didn't happen. We can be pretty proud about that.

Q. You have won two Grand Slams. Not trying to compare them. How does it feel to end the season on such a high?

HENRY PATTEN: It's a strange feeling. I didn't know what it would feel like, but we obviously spend a lot of time on the road. We spent a lot of time working hard and playing on the ATP Tour throughout the year.

It's really emotional actually to win the final event, the combination of all of that hard work, all of those kind of hours on the road. We have some time off just around the corner, which everyone is looking forward to.

But yes, it was surprisingly emotional I would say, yeah, which is nice.

Q. I'll ask about the glasses, which got progressively more complicated. Who chose them?

HENRY PATTEN: Well, I mean, obviously what happened was we had seen the Armani guys wearing their very, very cool Armani sunglasses. We were jealous? We were making fun of them? We'll leave you to decide.

We thought we should get our own pair. There's no way we're cool enough to pull a pair off like that. We had to go the other way. We had try and make people laugh, make people smile.

Boris, our coach, he was in charge of choosing them and finding them.

HARRI HELIOVAARA: The Germans did it first.

HENRY PATTEN: They started it, as well.

HARRI HELIOVAARA: The funny thing is had a conversation with Kevin Krawietz in Paris a couple weeks ago. He had played so many semifinals of 1000 before winning Shanghai, his first one. Paris, I've been in semifinal so many times, never won one. Ended up winning in Paris.

Then this week I told him, Hmm... Having the glasses. They won this tournament before. I'm going to follow him and good things will happen.

Again, they won it last year. It's our time. I'll take following Kevin Krawietz. Anything he does I'll do.

Q. Look forward to seeing them in Melbourne?

HENRY PATTEN: Oh, no. We felt today obviously we were playing against a non-Armani pair. But we felt like we dug ourselves into a bit of a hole. If we walked out without glasses, it would be a huge disappointment for everyone in Turin.

HARRI HELIOVAARA: Especially my kids as well.

HENRY PATTEN: Yeah, can't break the hearts of everyone here. So yeah, maybe after the off-season, we'll have to reevaluate and see our choices.

Q. Do you have any idea how you're going to celebrate tonight?

HARRI HELIOVAARA: I think for the first time, me and Henry will be in the same city.

HENRY PATTEN: In the same gutter at 3 in the morning.

HARRI HELIOVAARA: There's a flight home tonight, but I'm not going to make it, and that's great.

HENRY PATTEN: That's a fact. Looking forward to it. It will be nice.
