Eric Bovaird

Kris King

Fletcher MacDonald

Lahaina, Hawaii, USA

Lahaina Civic Center

Chaminade Silverswords

Postgame Press Conference

Boise State 102, Chaminade 76

Q. Coach, I know you guys start conference next week. How did these three games prepare you for your conference schedule?

ERIC BOVAIRD: Yeah, these games really can expose the weaknesses and deficiencies that you have, and we're going to take this and analyze it and learn from it and get better. It'll look a lot better against our level of competition. But we know we've got things to improve on, and we're going to try to do that.

Q. Obviously you had an opportunity to see a lot this week. What did you learn about yourselves and what did you learn about your teammates? What do you think you can really take from this moving forward?

KRIS KING: Well, what I took from this tournament, first off, I had a lot of fun just being out there competing with my teammates, first and foremost, and I think we learned that we're a tough team.

When we play and we're all in tune and all into the game, I feel as though we can be a very dangerous team, get a lot of stops and score a lot of points at a high clip.

I feel as though we just learned that we're tough and if we come out and stick to the Chaminade way of basketball, we'll have a successful season, and that's what we're looking to do.

FLETCHER MacDONALD: I agree with Kris. I feel like we had moments during these three days where we played really good basketball, we played as a team, playing great defense, and then we have these lapses and stuff like that.

I think we should hone in on really working together, and if we focus on those things, I think our conference and the rest of our season will be very successful.

Q. Coach, you're the host institution. Being here, I know you've coached in a number of these. What was it like just overall this week hosting and obviously honoring Coach Lopes and the whole thing?

ERIC BOVAIRD: Yeah, no, it was great being back. It's been since 2019 that we've played here. I was here last year watching, but it was really cool to be back playing. I was so excited myself to be back and my family were so excited, our players were so excited. It was awesome. Kemper Sports does an incredible job with all the administration and everything like that. It was a lot of fun.

Besides the smack-down to Texas. But other than that, when you look back -- you're mad at the time, but when you look back, then you realize what a special opportunity our school has, and we appreciate every moment of it.

Q. Even though you didn't win one, your team played hard every single game. What are a couple specific positive things that you can take away?

ERIC BOVAIRD: Yeah, I think the biggest thing is I felt like we played three really good halves of basketball, three. Three out of six. And when you're playing really high major teams -- I know, I've been doing this for a long time, and sometimes there's just nothing you can do. It kind of felt that way through some stretches a little bit tonight.

But I think we can take a lot away from it, what we learned from this whole experience. But we played three really good halves of basketball, so they can think back, all the stuff that we've been practicing that we have capability of doing it, especially at a high level, at our level. If we just got smacked for six straight halves, they might be questioning, why are we pressing, why are we doing this, but they saw the success in it, so hopefully we can build off that.

Q. If you were to play one of the three teams you already played again, which team would that be?

ERIC BOVAIRD: Well, obviously -- that's a good question. I would take another shot at Washington State, even though I know that they're really, really good. I think we match up a little bit better with them as far as their guard play and everything like that.

We'd love to play all the teams that were here. But if we had to play one, we'd love another shot at them. I wish we could play the second half of that game over again. But that's a good question. You might have a future as a journalist.
