NITTO ATP FINALS

November 13, 2025

Lorenzo Musetti

Turin, Italy

Inalpi Arena,Torino

Press Conference

C. ALCARAZ/L. Musetti

6-4, 6-1

THE MODERATOR: Lorenzo, tough luck. The first 10 games were very, very close. Can you give us your assessment of today's match.

LORENZO MUSETTI: Yeah, I think I managed to start really well and to serve big. That was the only chance I have for trying to deal with Carlos' game. Tonight I think he also served pretty well. He was managing to put me in a position where I had to run a lot and be real aggressive.

At the end, of course, the physical part was tough to deal with. Of course, all the credit to Carlos, who played a really incredible tennis. Every time he surprise me more. Hopefully one day I will have my revenge.

Of course, good luck to him for the semifinal.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. What are your main motivations now for next year? How much do you think you can close the gap to Carlos and Jannik at the top?

LORENZO MUSETTI: Well, of course, the goal for next year is try to achieve more, for sure, in terms of results, in terms of conditions.

I guess this year, honestly, we struggled a bit on the physical side, which costed me like almost two months out, because if you count South America then almost all the grass season, so far has been challenging for me. So definitely that's the biggest part. I'm lucky that I have a little bit more time to train and to prepare now in the off-season.

Q. Looking back on your first Finals here, how proud are you of Italian tennis? How much did it mean to you to be a part of it?

LORENZO MUSETTI: Well, super proud. Honestly, I think it's not common to have such as many players that we have right now. Of course, we have already two semifinalists, Jannik, and of course Bolelli/Vavassori in the doubles.

If we speak in terms of Italian tennis, also I have to say that Jasmine and Sara, they've done an incredible year. Jasmine, of course, in the singles. Of course, playing doubles with Sara, they achieve so much. It was a fantastic year for the Italian tennis.

I guess what's coming next I think is going to be even more surprising.

Q. How do you assess Carlos' focus level, dedication presence tonight, considering he played a lot?

LORENZO MUSETTI: Yeah, I think he was really focused. I knew that he wanted to win badly tonight. He served really well. I think he didn't have so many up and downs with the serve. That gave me a lot of pressure on the rallies.

I saw him playing this surface with a lot of up and downs. Now the performance of tonight was really consistent in every side of the game. Starting even from the return, he's starting to be really aggressive with the return.

The thing that surprised me the most is the first shot after the serve with the forehand. He generate the power and speed really, really tough to handle.

Q. How far away or how close do you think you can get to the top two, Alcaraz and Sinner? What do you think is missing, if anything?

LORENZO MUSETTI: Well, I don't know. Probably have to discover that. Maybe if I knew that, I will be closer (smiling).

Of course, I think they have something different from others in terms of abilities. Right now I see in the physical conditions, the way they move and the way they recover and the way they slide, they move during the rallies, is the thing that impress me the most honestly. The way they change from defense to offense is probably the thing that I need to increase and improve for the next season so far.
