Q. Bogey-free 64 out there today. Give us an assess many of your round.

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Very good. Played well. Was very, very good off the tee and I think I made some good decisions off the tee. Felt very comfortable with the shots that I chose and I hit. You know, putted well. I think I made a big par save on 12 and followed that with a birdie, which was I think a crucial part of the round if it's going to be a very, very good round.

Very happy. It's Thursday. You can obviously play your way out of it. You can't win it, but 8-under is a really nice way to start.

Q. You said yesterday you never quite worked out Yas Links. Was there something today that clicked?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Not really. I had a great I understand first round last year, as well, so I'm aware of that. I just try to play the golf course and have respect for the course. I think we had it in the best conditions we're going to have to today. Wind was pretty calm early on.

But yeah, just trying to continue to play the course. Kind of, like I said, I feel like I made good decisions off the tee today. I hit the ball in the right place. Yeah, it's that kind of course, it can bite you at any time, really.

I'm enjoying it. I think it's a very good test. There's a low score out there if you play well, but equally you still have to hit the ball and you still have to do the right things. Love that about the course. Just look forward to tomorrow. Different test tomorrow. See what we can do.

Q. You mentioned enjoying it. Did it help having Shane there in your group, from the Ryder Cup and a good friend, too?

TOMMY FLEETWOOD: Yeah, again very lucky. Very comfortable three ball. So close to both the guys, Ryder Cup teammates, played with Ras last week. It was great. Just you all go out there and you do your thing, and you're just very comfortable in each other's company.

As much as you focus on your own game, and yeah, shouldn't make that much difference but definitely when you're in a comfortable pairing or group, yeah, it's nice. It's helpful.
