Quick Quotes
Q. Coming towards the end of a long 2025, shall we call it. Can you grade us your 2025 out of ten for us and why?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, it's been decent. I'd say 8 out of 10. I would say it's been fairly consistent.
Obviously getting the win at the Dunhill was big win. Winning the Ryder Cup was enormous. Didn't get my win on the PGA TOUR but it's been a good year, a good move up the World Rankings.
So, yeah, it's definitely been positive but there's always room for improvement.
Q. What have you been doing since the Alfred Dunhill Links?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Not an awful lot to be honest. Sitting on my backside at home for 3 1/2 weeks. I've done the odd bit of practise but not much. Come out here the last three days. Knew out here Thursday or Friday last week. Got a bit of practise, a bit of sun, a bit of warm weather training, a lot of camp and yeah, it's been good.
Q. Do you actually find the 3 1/2 weeks of putting the clubs away is a good thing for you?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, I've had a long season. I think the most I had off was two weeks. So to actually get 3 and a half, four weeks off was nice, not just the physical part but for more the mental part. Gave me time to do some gym work, try and get stronger, try and get fitter. Yeah, there's positives.
Q. If you can pick out one moment, I know this is hard, from New York and The Ryder Cup, what would it be, and why is it the bus at the end?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Look, the bus is incredible. I think growing up playing team sports, you're always traveling long distances. Yeah, bus journeys home after a win are always special. That bus journey, I thought Rome was good but that bus journey in New York, it beat it.
What a win it was; the way it went all week, doing so well the first two days; and Sunday wasn't going our way, but at the end of the day, the job was to win the Ryder Cup and that's what we done.
Q. After that huge high of New York, going on to win the Alfred Dunhill, what did that say about yourself?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: I think the biggest thing was go and try and enjoy it. I've never done great at Dunhills in the past. I just struggled. But this time I went with zero expectation. The energy levels were low.
So it's about going out Thursday and Friday over the weekend and have fun with my partner, Brett. Had good playing partners. It was just literally go out there and have a laugh and try our best and then come Sunday,.
I mean, with five, six holes to go, I was going to ask Mike, it was surely we were leading. Because I've played three days out of my absolute boots, and yeah, found out, four-shot lead with five holes to go and that was it.
Q. Talk about this course, Yas Links, what do you have to do well around here?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: You've got to drive it well. The rough is a lot thicker. But yeah, long and straight is good at every golf course in the world. But I think pace putting is important. Greens are lightning quick, slopey but you can counter that argument saying your iron play -- this is a golf course everything needs to be on. And yeah, try and not have any disasters.
Q. How much do you enjoy these end-of-the-season events, a lot on the line, points and money, but people you don't get to see during the year?
ROBERT MacINTYRE: Yeah, it's good to get back and see the guys you were brought up with, especially the Scottish guys. Spend time with them and spend time with the people that you don't see a lot.
But again you've got a job to do. You come here, it's with winning a golf tournament, or trying to win a golf tournament and that's my plan this week, to give myself a chance coming in Sunday. Yeah, give myself a chance coming into The Race to Dubai.
