THE MODERATOR: Questions in French.
Q. You withdrew from the doubles. Do you have a physical glitch or it's just out of precaution?
VALENTIN VACHEROT: It's just out of precaution.
Q. How do you feel, Valentin, after this long, riveting match?
VALENTIN VACHEROT: Yes, it was a long match. It was very physical. Mentally, it was hard, as well. I feel a bit exhausted, but I'll have time to recover before tomorrow.
Q. Congrats on your win. Can you explain how you managed to win at the crunch moments? You broke from the get-go every time. Can you explain all this?
VALENTIN VACHEROT: The first set wasn't easy for both of us. We were very tense, both of us. I think the crowd could see it.
Once the first set was over, I felt better. It was a good thing for me to break from the get-go during the second set, and then to take his serve to start the third set.
At the beginning of the third set and the end of the third set, I actually dictated the rallies, and during the middle of the third set was rather more difficult, because he served very well. But as for my return game or my serve, I was quite satisfied.
Q. Congrats, Valentin. Your cousin said that you worked hard to deserve the results that you have today, but you're on a hot streak right now. Is that how you feel?
VALENTIN VACHEROT: Well, am I on a hot streak? Well, I mastered my match much better yesterday than today. Of course the players are different. It's difficult to play the same every day.
Arthur plays very well right now. It wasn't easy from beginning to the end. So was it easy? Certainly not. I had a lot of errors as well today. Not everything was perfect. Had I won in straight sets 6-1, 6-2, it would have been a different story but it's not the case.
But I have a lot of confidence in myself, that's for sure.
Q. This morning it was a bit of a love match in a way. We'll have another type of match between Moutet and Bublik. What is more difficult, to play someone you love or someone you actually don't really like? What about motivation and drive?
VALENTIN VACHEROT: I don't know what to say, because there's no one I don't like, actually, on the tour. But if it's to try to make a difference between Arthur and close friends and other players, not that I don't like but maybe players that I don't hold close to my heart, well, a loss would be less difficult.
But during the first set, I felt more tension than yesterday. Was it because it's Arthur in front of me? Maybe. But it's easier to start a match against players that I know less well.
Anyway, against Arthur every time, the first set was difficult, and then I felt better and better as time flew, and this was the case today. I felt quite well during the second set, much better than during the first set.
