Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Gigi Stoll after the second round of the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. 3-under 69 after that 7-under round yesterday. Talk about how hard is it to follow up a really good round yesterday with a 7-under and just another good steady round?
GIGI STOLL: Yeah, it's difficult. People talk a lot about not being able to follow up a good round with another low round. I felt like I was pretty steady out there. I know the front nine to me plays a little bit easier and I started on the back today, so I knew there were some good birdies hopefully waiting for me on the front nine.
So just kept patient. Shot even on the back nine, which was my first nine, and just stayed steady and hung in there and got a couple birdies to fall on the front.
Q. And then couple bogeys, a double bogey, but a lot of the birdies out there. Does that put your mind at ease a little bit knowing that maybe if you drop a shot there is still a lot of birdies out there to come back?
GIGI STOLL: Yeah, I think I'm playing the golf course really well, driving the ball well, which is putting me in position to make a lot of birdies out here.
You know, a couple slip-ups out there, but I wasn't too worried. Bounced back with quite a few birdies, so it was good out there.
Q. I had asked you yesterday what would be the challenge in keeping the momentum rolling from the first day. You said it would be mental. How well do you feel like you handled that today?
GIGI STOLL: Really well. I feel like I'm getting in my groove a little bit. There is really no pressure out here. Just hit one shot at time. Just enjoying being out here, and if the birdies fall they do. Just let everything happen the way it's supposed to.
Q. Yesterday you pointed to your putting as a big reason for your success. Is it the same again today?
GIGI STOLL: Yeah, I think driving the golf ball has been really good for me as well. Definitely putting, getting the ball in the hole and seeing it go in has built a lot of confidence in my game this week.
Just trying to keep that rolling.
Q. What's the experience been like for you these two days playing so well and being in the hunt?
GIGI STOLL: Yeah, it's fun. This is what we play golf for. It's exciting to be chasing probably a couple of these girls just a few shots behind. Interested to see what happens this afternoon, but I am really looking forward to being at the back of the pack tomorrow.
Q. For you, how validating is it to have these two rounds, 10-under par, heading into the weekend?
GIGI STOLL: Yeah, it's great. I know I can do it and it's just really good to see a lot of hard work I've been putting in paying off. Staying really steady out there and just trying to stay in my flow tomorrow and the next day.
Q. We know you are one of the swaggier athletes out here with the fits week in and week out. I love the Arnold Palmer kind of nod here from Malbon. How fun is it for to you express yourself dressing like this and maybe channelling some AP vibes with this fit today?
GIGI STOLL: Yeah, I mean, fashion is kind of one of my favorite things out here. It's really fun to be able to wear what you want. Malbon does a great job dressing me, and it's fun to express myself and put on cool different styles and colors out there.
Q. 36 holes left. You're going to have a lot of fans watching you over the weekend. What would you want them to know about Gigi Stoll?
GIGI STOLL: You know, I'm a lot more fun I feel like than they get to see on the golf course. Obviously my game face is on when I'm on the golf course. But outside the golf courses I'm just a lot of fun. I'm a normal person. It's just fun to be out here.
Q. Saw you earlier this week pick up the mic and do a little emcee for the Tide Downy Hole in One Challenge. How much fun was that to volley with Maria Fassi and get to interact with some girls from the First Tee in Cincinnati?
GIGI STOLL: Yeah, I mean, it was a lot of fun. First time I ever hosted an event like that. I felt like I was pretty comfortable doing my thing. Maria Fassi killed it as well, and I feel like we made a great team.
That was a lot of fun just heckling some of the girls.
Q. How much are you looking forward it this weekend and enjoying this opportunity and experience?
GIGI STOLL: Yeah, looking forward to it. I feel like I'm playing well. Like I said, I've been working really hard to get in a position like this, and to be here it's a really good feeling, so I'm excited for the weekend.
