Wentworth Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. 3-under par, second round 69. Your thoughts on that round?

RICHIE RAMSAY: Yeah, I think I would say it's one of my best rounds ever from regards to haven't been playing maybe the best I could, but played yesterday and obviously to follow it up is a harder task, I think.

It was cold this morning but played great on the front nine, very steady and just happy with the way that I handled the moment because obviously it's one of our biggest tournaments, if not our biggest tournament. Great field and a place I love to play, and to back up and play the way I did, either under pressure. But I felt quite composed which especially two shots into the last, I'll probably remember that for quite a while. Because you're under the gun and you want to finish well, and I executed pretty well coming down the stretch, so just really happy with the process. That was the most pleasing.

Q. You mentioned your form. Have you found something that's turned around for you this week?

RICHIE RAMSAY: I've just realised that I need to be happy with my game and not compare it to anybody else's. In spells, I've played really well over the last, like, three, four weeks. For instance, last week in Ireland on the first round, I was No. 1 driving accuracy, and I hit a lot of good iron shots. So it was kind of not get down on yourself, realise that you're playing well. Try and stay patient and try and stay positive.

Obviously good support from friends when you're not playing well, that makes a big difference.

Q. What were conditions like this morning, and how did they change through the course of the round?

RICHIE RAMSAY: Definitely chilly, even for a Scotsman. Ball wasn't flying and the rough is wet, September dew, so hitting fairways is a premium. Once the sun came out at 7.00 it started to warm up but the wind has picked up. It's definitely tricky coming in there because there is gusts and you've got to be precise coming in the last few holes.

It's a tricky test. I don't think Wentworth is ever that easy because the wind tends to swirl a lot of time and that means you need to execute your shot pretty precisely.

Q. How much do you enjoy the challenge that Wentworth does propose to you?

RICHIE RAMSAY: It's great. I've always enjoyed coming here. The wind adds a different element to it. When it's firm and fast, it really shows off its true colours with regards to how you shape the ball into the greens.

Obviously we've had a lot of rain, so it's not playing like that this week. It's a beautiful place to come to. BMW are a fantastic sponsor and they do a great job, and a lot of families come here, including my family come down because it's just a great week to walk around, hopefully enjoy the sunshine, and some good golf.

Q. You're in a lovely position heading into the weekend. How much does the prospect of the next two days excite you?

RICHIE RAMSAY: It does excite me. I'd love to be in contention. My goal for the whole week is to work on the process and try to be as committed as possible to the process. If I do that, I almost feel irrespective of if I play well or I don't play well I can walk away from here feeling quite confident in my own game.

Yes, we all love to win, of course I would, but it's about the process for me. It's staying process-orientated goals, and I feel like if I can do that, I can continue the good play.
